The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

Posted on: May 16, 2008 12:37 pm

Ok, here is the deal, every Friday I will post a new Blog in which we will choose the greatest player ever at a certain position. Until the next position is posted CBS members may vote for who they think the greatest ever is, at the end of the voting I will calculate every ones votes and will add that player to The Greatest Team Ever. I hope lots of you participate because I think this could be fun. I will try to post a running tally in a comment every day.

18th Position- Running Back    Vote for the best Running Back of all time!! Please post your vote in a comment, if you wish to give some insight on your choice feel free to do so. Please start your post with the players name, and please make sure that you are naming someone who played the position being voted on for that week, as those are the only votes that will count..........So who is our Running Back?

Please remember to rate this blog entry, and all comments as I appear to be losing value points for doing this blog, I happen to believe a lot of you enjoy it however, so I will continue even though I may be a rookie by the time it is over!

The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

Emmitt Smith is my pick. Barry Sanders is a quitter, he doesn't deserve to be held above ricky  williams much less Walter Payton.

It might sound like a homer but i reality Barry Sanders is my favorite RB of all-time. I just loved watching him play.

BUT (and this Might be the homer in me) big maybe.  Walter Payton just did everything.

It kinda reminds me of Terrell Owens taking over for 49ers after Jerry Rice.  Great player taking over great just not the same you can't replace.

Walter Payton no doubt. He was the prototypical every down running back. he had the power to run between the tackles, the speed to run to the sidelines, the vision and quickness to make people miss, the hands to consistently make catches out of the backfield, and the heart and desire to play all but one game of his entire career. Not to mention his remarkable off-the-field generosity. Walter Payton is the bench mark, and the idol, of players like LaDainian Tomlinson, who himself says that Walter was the best ever.

Emmitt Smith isn't even on the same planet as Barry Sanders or Walter Payton.  I could've run for 10,000 yards behind some of his offensive lines.

I'd have to go with Walter Payton #1, Barry Sanders a very close #2, no one else even comes close IMO.

I have to go with Walter Payton!!!  Barry was a close 2nd.  The one thing Walter did better than Barry was finish a run by lowering his shoulder and dishing out the blow.  They both played for bad teams and still shined.  Love this best team ever not Bad for a Seahawk FAN.

Barry Sanders was two steps ahead of everyone. He is by far the best running back of all time.

Barry Sanders was a great running back. But I feel that he quit too early in his career. So my choice is Emmitt Smith.

Barry Sanders. Put emmit on the lions, he is an average rb at best. Put Sanders on the Cowboys, well those records would never be touched.
