The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

Posted on: May 16, 2008 12:37 pm

Ok, here is the deal, every Friday I will post a new Blog in which we will choose the greatest player ever at a certain position. Until the next position is posted CBS members may vote for who they think the greatest ever is, at the end of the voting I will calculate every ones votes and will add that player to The Greatest Team Ever. I hope lots of you participate because I think this could be fun. I will try to post a running tally in a comment every day.

18th Position- Running Back    Vote for the best Running Back of all time!! Please post your vote in a comment, if you wish to give some insight on your choice feel free to do so. Please start your post with the players name, and please make sure that you are naming someone who played the position being voted on for that week, as those are the only votes that will count..........So who is our Running Back?

Please remember to rate this blog entry, and all comments as I appear to be losing value points for doing this blog, I happen to believe a lot of you enjoy it however, so I will continue even though I may be a rookie by the time it is over!

The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

#22 Emmitt Smith!!

How is Smith not everyones #1?? He is the all time leading rusher !He is the only running back to ever have won a Super Bowl championship, the NFL Most Valuable Player award, the NFL rushing crown, and the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award all in the same season (1993). Emmitt Smith is the first player in NFL history to have five straight seasons with over 1,400 rushing yards and over sixty catches. He's one of 3 players to have 7 straight 1400 yard seasons.  He holds the RB record with 164 touchdowns!!  He is second in total touchdowns with 175!  He's one of only four players in NFL history to eclipse the 21,000-combined yards mark with 21,564.
He also holds all kinds of postseason records including rushing touchdowns (19), consecutive games with a rushing touchdown (9) and 100-yard rushing games (7). His 1,586 yards rushing is also top on the NFL postseason chart, and he shares the total playoff touchdown mark of 21 with Thurman Thomas.

How can you say any other RB is the greatest ever?  Yea everyone has an argument but does anyone have these sort of facts and records?

The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

How about the versatile Marshall Faulk?? He was a deadly runner, he could catch passes out of the back field, you could line him up in the slot and he could block. Plus, he was huge in the locker room with his experience and character, a leader, a teacher and a great all around person.... He's gote my vote!!!

Sorry guys, while I really loved Barry and Walter, if I really need a few yards, I got to go with Jerome Bettis.  Franco Harris would probably be a close second.

The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A RB

Tough Choice between Barry and Sweetness.... no doubt the 2 best rbs this game has seen...Emmitt smith I think was over rated.... It has to be a toss up and I'm torn about this but my vote would have to go to BArry Sanders...He was a highlite reel and fun to watch... I would pay anyday to go and watch the man...Don't get me wrong... Walter sweetness was nastty too!!! a typical RB that any team would love to have.... but i m just goin in for sheer fun to watch... Sweetness was tough as nails.... I wont be disappointed if this vote goes either way...but chalk one up to BArry... If he had stayed and not left that pathetic lions team..he would well have surpassed all running records..My vote goes to Barry...only by a whisker...
