The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A QB

Posted on: May 23, 2008 11:41 am

Ok, here is the deal, every Friday I will post a new Blog in which we will choose the greatest player ever at a certain position. Until the next position is posted CBS members may vote for who they think the greatest ever is, at the end of the voting I will calculate every ones votes and will add that player to The Greatest Team Ever. I hope lots of you participate because I think this could be fun. I will try to post a running tally in a comment every day.

19th Position- Quarter Back    Vote for the best Quarter Back of all time!! Please post your vote in a comment, if you wish to give some insight on your choice feel free to do so. Please start your post with the players name, and please make sure that you are naming someone who played the position being voted on for that week, as those are the only votes that will count..........So who is our Quarter Back?

Please remember to rate this blog entry, and all comments as I appear to be losing value points for doing this blog, I happen to believe a lot of you enjoy it however, so I will continue even though I may be a rookie by the time it is over!

Joe Montana is, by far, the best of the three. Peyton Manning will never even be the greatest QB in Colts history (Unitas) John Elway isn't even in the top 10 all time. Brett Favre and Fran Tarkington deserve consideration.

I agree with DKM, Joe Montana is the only one who deserves it.

I agree, John Elway is the best quarterback of all time.  The Bronco's got to what, three Super Bowl's for one reason and one reason only: John Elway.  Unfortunately, those teams' weaknesses were exposed in dramatic fashion, resulting in three Super Bowl blowouts.  When John finally got a coach with a clue, a running game, an offensive line, a decent defense (ie the whole package), John was able to deliver the goods.  With all the pieces in place, John was still the straw that stirred the drink.  Second place goes to Joe Montana with honorable mentions to Stabauch, Bradshaw, Brady, and Kelley, not necessarily in that order.

Best QB of all time?

My vote goes to Dan Marino.

If he had the tools that some of these other
esteemed players had at his disposal, gawd
knows what he might have been able to
accomplish!

But I'm curious that you're leaving out Randy
Moss and Earl Campbell? Or even Eric
Dickerson?

All immediate impact players ..

definately don't agree with tecmobucs, Gonzalez isn't better than Sharpe by far.  If Sharpe was the only option on his team his numbers would be monstrous, but Elway had a running game to go along with his receivers too.

I agree with your lineup except for cornerback.  Hot Rod Woodson needs to be on that list.  Believe me as much as it pains me to see another steeler there as a Browns fan.  I give credit where it is due and he was the best of the modern era.  Hands down.  I would like to see the wizard at TE or maybe Gonzalez there over Sharpe just because he's a punk.  Montana at QB no doubt.  If you want to go old school Otto Graham.  Farve, Marino, Kelly, Young, and Elway are right there but I take cool Joe.

Joe Namath at number 9? You're joking of coarse. Stabler would be a better 9 than Joe unless this is just a popularity contest . Stabler was just plain better than Namath and he's from Bama too, so just switch them. It's ok to have favorites but don't be silly. Look at your list and tell me he's better than any of the others on it with a straight face. In fact, everyone one on your HM list is better than Broadway Joe in my opinion, except for McNabb. McNabb could have been good with the right team. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything because you at least made a list. I just found #9 funny.

The Greatest Of All Time Team Needs A QB

I never saw him play live, but all the classic games that are replayed, he was one tough SOB.  And he called his own plays, stood up to coach Shula and called off a field goal attempt by running a scoring drive to win with a TD not the FG.   The only player since him that may have compared to knowledge and the ability to control the field himself with out some calling his plays may have been, Montana or Favre.  Other than that, the others dont compare.   For those young like me, check the classic games and look at what this man did.

5's for all the Unitas votes.   Some people know the game.
