-------

This was the toughest week to rank.  Conference play began with cross-beating, many top teams lost, or split a win and a loss this week.  I have re-done my rankings without heeding too much to who is dropping and rising.

College Basketball Rankings, Week 8

Careful Geze...you might be coming over to the Dark Side...lolLOL.  I always liked Wisconsin.  They tend to be perennially underrated, a trait they share with Illinois.  They are both consistently good programs who have never won the big one, thus often ignored by pollsters.  They were on my watchlist but every time I would want to add them, they would lose - well, to good teams, but still, you don't add them to your top 25 right after they lose.  But in Big Ten play they are rolling, they beat ranked Michigan, and Penn State and Northwestern are no cupcakes, either.  Nobody is in the Big Ten, even Indiana can elevate their play if you don't watch out, as Michigan found out yesterday.

That, and I tend to be biased towards teams I have seen play, that is normal for everyone, I think, if I was impressed with them.  And I was impressed with Wisconsin.  They simply don't show Marqutte games here.

Looks good, Geze, we had a similar case with the Irish in our latest polls. Also with you on UCLA. They just finished a pair of games against the Ducks and Beavers and didn't look anything like a top 10 team. Arkansas, 2 big wins in a row, 12-2. They should be in the '25 next week, agree?Their schedule is basically cupcakes, except for two very good wins in the last three games over Oklahoma and Texas.  I have seen parts of the Texas game and I was very impressed.  They played really well, and although overall I had the impression that Texas was a better team, they are not far behind and made up the difference with wanting that win more.  I will definitely consider them next week.  I have added them onto my watch list.  They just weren't on the radar before, but they burst in with a bang.

I like it Geze, cept I would put Marquette ahead of Wisconsin, (I can't believe I just said that!) Marquette did beat UW and has a better record...Thanks.

Early on I was considering who beat whom, but that would be too difficult to incorporate now with all the cross-beating.  They had a very similar result last week.  Looking at the record, Marquette does have a better record - I was probably biased toward Wisconsin because I have seen them play and I liked them, but I have not seen Marquette.

It was difficult enough to do the poll last week, so I am happy with the outcome.  I may adjust it next week - I don't expect having to re-do it again, although you never know.
