Selected comments

Duke was impressive against Connecticut, especially with the tough defense and aggressivity.  Sheyer has really stepped up as a point-guard/shooting guard combo. They won the best pre-season tournament this week and decisively so.  The Dukies have it again and they showed it this week.

Purdue
beat a very impressive Tennesse team and a good St Joseph team in the Paradise Jam, winning another strong tournament.

Gonzaga
has played two great games against Cincinnati and Wisconsin this week, showing staying power against what might have been the two most underrated teams in the country.

Cincy is highly athletic and has the will power - they are emerging as one of the powers in a weakened Big East conference.

I liked what I saw from Wisconsin , especially while beating Maryland decisively.   Hughes and Bohannon carry the team as seniors - and seniors on a major team is a rarity nowadays.

Texas A&M
- can you say underrated?  They waxed two highly ranked teams this week - Clemson decisively, Minnesota in a tight one.  I only caught a few minutes of the Clemson game but the Aggies looked as good as any other top 10 team. Pomeroy ratings #8, score ratings #4 - who says they are not top 10?  I can't find a reason.

Florida beats in-state rival Florida State and moves on to beat Michigan State.

Florida State beats Alabama and Marquette this week, with the only loss to Florida at their place, they have done a LOT more than Kentucky by far.

Portland rolls over UCLA - UCLA is down, but 74-47? - then moves onto beating Minnesota.  They lose to West Virginia - but most teams I could have ranked at 19 instead would lose to them, too.

UNLV
- wins over Nevada and Souther Illinois are nice, but Louisville looks really spiffy on that unbeaten resume.

That's like saying water is wet.  Or John Wall is the freshman of the year. Or Kentucky doesn't need to beat anyone to be ranked
