What is the best movie ever made? Sweet 16

Onto round 3. I just want to reiterate a rule I made up for the last round. Please vote for all of the matchups. If you don't like either movie, just pick the lesser of two evils.

As we move along the choices get harder and harder.

Can Jaws take a bite out of Citizen Kane?

Will the Mockingbird break through the Rear Window or just break it's neck?

Can the Godfather withstand the Wrath of some Grapes?

Will the Wizard have enough brains, heart and courage when facing Laurence of Arabia?

Sorry couldn't think of any witty statements for the North. Feel free to add any you can think of.

Will the Raging Bull collapse before the Bridge over the River Kwai?

Can Star Wars "Force" it's way past the holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life?

What is the best movie ever made? Sweet 16

I shouldn't post before the caffeine has kicked in.  GWTH would make the top 10 ML-WL, not SLIH.

Great commentary, but you lost me with GWTW.  Good book, stunningly boring movie.  They could have cut out half of it and still told the same story.  SLIH was at least entertaining, although not sure it would make my top ten on any list.  Well, maybe the top ten most unnecessarily long-winded list.  :)  But I'll think about it tomorrow.......

Actually, Section, the choices are getting easier for me. The really tough choices were at the beginning. Too many "losers" have become winners and just don't stack up against their competition. That's my opinion, anyway.

Comments:

Citizen Kane will feed the shark the air tank and finally get this kiddy flick out of the running.

The mockingbird will crap all over the window and that will be the end of Jimmy's peeping tom act.

The Godfather puts out a hit on the grapes and everyone associated with them. Don't mess with the "family".

The Wizard of Oz is a perfect example of the brainwashing that viewers fall victim to when they think this is a great film. It was great in it's day but has long since become trite and irrelevent. LOA, on the other hand is still a masterpiece of cinemaphotography and storytelling.

Cooper puts one into Bogie's forehead from 50 yards. Bogie doesn't even clear leather.  'Nuf said.

Those that "like it hot" can watch the burning of Atlanta several times over. Will be sorry to see Jack and Tony fall by the wayside.

If this came down to who did the best acting, "Bull" would win. However, a great film requires more than just acting. Edge to the Bridge.

Star Wars is a gimme. What other film broke more ground and has influenced special effects more? "Life" had it's message and that's about it. Messages are fine but not all that entertaining 50+ years after the fact.

FSU - I was thinking of doing the top 64 comedians of all time next. After that I may do best movies by Genre. Horror, Comedy, Drama. Maybe I could do all three at one time. One week is the first round for Horror movies, then a 1st round for comedy, then a 1st round for drama. I could leave the voting open for 3 weeks for each.

Mikeyfan had the idea for top comedians, if he wants, he can run with that, and I will do the movie genre vote off.
