What is the best movie ever made? Final Four

Posted on: December 5, 2008 7:54 am

Here we are at the final four, minus one of the 1 seeds. Citizen Kane was eliminated, losing out to the Mockingbird by 2 votes.

This of course sets up an easy tagline for one of the matchups.

Does the Godfather have what it takes To Kill a Mockingbird, or will he get some poop in the eye?

The other one isn't so easy. But both movies have bar scenes in them, although I don't recall anyones arm getting lopped off in Casablanca. If someone can come up with a good tagline, feel free to post it.

#1 The Godfather (1972) vs.#7 To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)

#1 Casablanca (1942) vs.#4 Star Wars (1977)

Voting will stay open until next Friday.

Thought it was just a slip-up the first time but gotta call you out on it this time Stgr.

That was Ingrid Bergman not Katherine (or Audrey) Hepburn.

And BTW Don Blaine the Godfather of Morocco is kicking R2D2's butt right now.

As you said, the ultimate guy flick will rule anyway, at least on this board.

Star Wars ? It's pretty good and did influence special effects. When is the last time anyone watched it ?About a week ago. Was it the best ever made, probably not, but it is my favorite movie. Lord of the Rings was included in the field of 64 but lost in the second round I think.

GWTW is STILL the best of the final 8. You can give me a thousand reasons why not and I won't listen to any of them. Look at it this way. Casablanca is going to get pounded by Star Wars. Do you really think GWTW wouldn't do better, even if it lost? With what's left now, The Godfather will win in a walkover.

Now to my real comments.

Gregory Peck will wake up in the morning and find his bed full of dead mockingbirds and poop all over the bedroom. Now we know what happened to Duvall; he decided that being on the wrong side of the law is better than living in some small Southern town and fading into oblivion. He accepted an offer he couldn't refuse and became an important part of the "Family".

Bogart will say, "Here's looking at you, babe" and Princess Leah will slap him silly and say, "Snap out of it!". Then Luke will have his way with Hepburn and Darth Vader will chop Hogy's piano in pieces, saying, "Enough of that miserable song. Don't you know anything else?".

Lennon, I read TKM freshman year in high school too!  It must be a nationwide requirement or something...

I will go with:

The Godfather

& Star Wars (A New Hope) by a longshot.  The special effects in this were amazing.

Can't wait for the final!
