AN ARCADE GAME OF YESTERYEAR YOU LOVED, AND WHY

Hey classic arcade fiends.

What we do here is pick one game at a time we loved at the old arcade (back in either the '70s, '80s or '90s; no less, no later) that we liked to play over and over again.  It didn't have to be your absolute favorite, it could be just one you really liked.  Maybe do a little backstory on where specifically you frequented to play this machine, what year, how old you were, how much allowance you pumped into it, yada yada.  What did you like about it most, do you own it today in some shape or form, etc.

I'll start:

MOUSETRAP C 1981 Exidy

My sister and I both loved this game.. strange concept though.  You play a mouse moving around a maze eating cheese and avoiding the cats.  After eating a dog bone (!) you can change into a dog (!!) and eat the cats (!!!).  A hawk attacks here and there that will kill either the mouse OR the dog (!!!!).  Told you it was strange!  But the music and sound effects REALLY drew me in.  I now have it emulated on my cpu.

I would have to say that Russian Attack was my game of choice.  In the mid to late 80's it was in every Pizza joint and arcade around.  When Nintindo came out with it I was in Heaven.  If I could find a stand up machine right now, I'd buy it!!!

AN ARCADE GAME OF YESTERYEAR YOU LOVED, AND WHY

Ms. Pac Man is one I'm looking to put in my small collection, as a cocktail conversion, in the guest room.  I preferred the "speed up" version, which I think is a dipswitch.  Loved that game to pieces.

Missile Command was a bit hard for me.  After the 3rd wave or so I went down fast.  Those "smart bombs" (or whatever they were called) were just plain evil.  I loved the "THE END" screen when you lost.  Very armageddon-like.

Never got into the arcade version of Tecmo Bowl.. but hell yes to the NES version!  Since there was no play clock you could go get something to eat or drink while you were waiting to hike the ball.  It would drive people around you nuts just hearing the "hut hut hut hut hut hut hut hut"...   I liked how certain defensive players on each team were lightning fast, and would routinely block extra points or field goals.  Just pick the guy (like Carl Banks of NY Giants) and watch him fly at the kicker.

Space Invaders is one I always had dreams about, of playing it on a movie screen.  That would be cool if that were ever possible.

Thanks for the input folks!  Keep them quarters rollin'!

Not counting TECMO BOWL ( football ) of the late 1980's ( The Madden of it's day). I have to say PAC-MAN & MS. MAC-MAN. Probably because it gave me a head start of running from and dodging the police!

My game was Missle Command, man did I love that game. I remember the dept store that I worked at, it was 1980 and  I was about 17. Before work during breaks and after work I would play that game. I even came in on days off to see what the high score was and see if I could beat it. That was the bomb, peeps!!

My Buddy Scott and I once operated a Car Wash/ automobile detailing shop in Orange, Ca.

When things got slow in the shop we would play "Ms. Pac-Man" for hours. She had far more game then her significant other "Pac-Man".

BTW! She had more game then Adam Jones does now also!
