2008-09 NFL Projections - NFC (and year) Recap

Well, here it is, I’ve laid it all out for ridicule.  Only time alone will tell.  So with my NFC division leaders picked, what I see the outcome for the NFC will be.

NFC East Division Champions – Dallas Cowboys
NFC North Division Champions – Minnesota Vikings
NFC South Division Champions – Carolina Panthers
NFC West Division Champions – Seattle Seahawks

The Packers, Buccaneers and Saints all have the ability to take a wildcard slot, however, my wildcard slots go to:

The Green Bay Packers
The Arizona Cardinals.

In the end, I see the Dallas Cowboys finally advancing to the Superbowl this year.  Care to guess who I see as their opponent?

I do want to note.  When the Pittsburgh Steelers went 15-1 and were heading to the AFC Championships, I had my doubts that they would make it.  I had hope, but in the end, was proven right. At the end of that year I commented on this very board that I had the feeling that the next year that the Steelers would win.  It was just a feeling, a very strong feeling.

I had for a long time had a feeling that the next time the Cowboys and Steelers met up in the Superbowl, that the outcome would be different then the last match up.  He who shall not be named and really should have been tested for color blindness, is no longer leading the Steelers offense.  Both teams are ripe to go all the way.  So, the end of this year, I see the Steelers and Cowboys in the Superbowl…with the sixth ring going to

The Pittsburgh Steelers.

Thanks Clutch,

Call it a feeling.  Jake Delhomme is finally healthy.  The Panthers defense is still better then the Saints defense (until proven otherwise...lol) and I think Johnathon Stewart is going to be a major factor and be on track to being offensive ROY.

2008-09 NFL Projections - NFC (and year) Recap

No disrespect intended.  Giants got to the SB last year on a wild card, kind of like my Steelers in XL.  The NFC is getting tougher and I think that the Cardinals are going to surprise everyone.  Giants have the bullseye on their back and I just think that there will be alot of heat on Eli and eventually he's going to miss it by one game.

2008-09 NFL Projections - NFC (and year) Recap

Well Mom I see another "expert" disrespecting the Super Bowl Champs. I am not expecting them to repeat as Champs but I do think they will at least be a Playoff club.

I do think your Steelers will make the playoffs, winning their division, but I don't see them in the Big Game this year. The AFC is top heavy with good teams and I think the playoffs in that conference will be very interesting.

Let the games begin for everybody but the Giants and Skins who already are underway.

Go Big Blue.

2008-09 NFL Projections - NFC (and year) Recap

mom, I would't care if the Steelers went 14-2 in the regular season, however, you know who I want those two losses to come at the hands of

Texans and the Cowboys?

Colts and Patriots a given.  Hopefully they'll tag the Colts, Patriots, Chargers and Jaguars as elite teams...we've known what have happened to the elite teams in the past.  However, I wouldn't discount my hunches.  My new mantra...I believe.

I think all teams need to be healthy.  Seriously, we know that both Manning and Brady had some issues this year, will it effect their play?  Probably not, but what if they took a big hit to aggravate their issues?  I don't think any of us are extremely pleased with our backup QB situation.  I'd feel a little more comfortable if Charlie Batch were in there.  If Parker goes down, could be an issue, but Gary Russell and Moore are perfectly capable of coming in and doing well also.  Big thing is for that defense to stay healthy.

2008-09 NFL Projections - NFC (and year) Recap

Gee mom - Not much of a homer pick there! LOL! I believe the (**uck, cough, cough, hack, puke) Steelers win the weak AFC North. Who will contend? The Browns? I don't hold much hope for my Bengals, and we know Baltimore won't do anything this year. However, I think the Steelers will have some pretty big fish to fry in the playoffs. They would have to get by the usual suspects in the Colts, Patriots, Chargers. I think they would need a little luck to get through to the big game, but anything is possible. Well, almost anyhthing. I know the Bengals won't be there. The (**uck, cough, cough, hack, puke) Steelers would need a healthy Willie Parker for most of the season. I know Mendenhall is there to back him up, but is he ready. If Big Ben was to go down, that would be catastrophic. Byron Leftwich! Ouch.
