I Quit !!!

I quit, I've had enough, no more!!!

No, this has nothing to do with Sportsline, sex, politics or religion.  After spending the last 20 years sucking garbage into my lungs, I've made the decision that today will be the last day that I have a cigarette.  Seriously.  In the past I've said that I would stop smoking once I've reached my goal weight.  Well, I'm not going to wait that long, not that I'm not making progress, just that, well, I'm tired of waking up to a hacking cough, tired of gasping for air from time to time.  I'm tired of seeing money going up in smoke.  I'm tired of the bronchitis, of smelling like cigarettes, of everything associated with it.  So I've quit.

Wish my husband luck, he'll need it as I go through withdrawals.

I Quit !!!

BigBlu,

Thanks....well at least your habit have allowed your lungs to recover...it's the nicotine that is the addictive agent.  Congrats though in getting rid of the smoke at least it's a positive thing.

I Quit !!!

well steelers=sb...I seem to shock people every once in awhile...lol.  Yeah, smoking does ruin a kids chance at sports.  Thanks for the well wishes...and my kid is now 20, I think if she was going to pick it up, she'd already hae.

I Quit !!!

Well JSB...

Day 1 had me eating everything in sight so it wasn't a good thing.  I eventually had to have one (or two or three) when it got too bad and I had this strong desire to rip a head off and put it on a stake outside my office.  Hopefully your diminishing diminution gets a little better and that blanket of smog gets a little lighter.

So maybe cold turkey isn't for me...especially if I want to keep my job, but hey at least I'm not chain smoking and am only having one each time I start thinking murder.

On a bright note, stock should have gone up in Halloween candy and tylenol pm this week, since I'm stocking up on both.

I Quit !!!

Hi Momsluv -

Just joined the blogger community a month or so ago, and I enjoy reading your posts.

Good luck with quitting. I watched it take my father and grandfather way before their time. I too smoke - I was up to 2 1/2 packs a day at one point, I "quit" when I sat on a jury for a pretty long case. Knowing I couldn't smoke in the box, I went to the gum. Unfortunately I've been hooked on the gum for 4 years now and that's been as tough if not tougher to break. But I'm trying. And it's better than the hacking, wheezing and stink in the clothes.

Keep us posted!

I Quit !!!

As a matter of fact, your right about your personalitly. I never saw someone like you doing this. Good luck quitting and keep your kids away from that stuff. They have ruined some kids who have been good at sports, most notably our former QB.

I Quit !!!

    Go for it !

My program of gradual diminution is gradually diminishing.
And I have the blanket of smog here, in addition to the
congealing tar.

I Quit !!!

Steelerhater,

Best of luck tomorrow.  I'll admit I'm stumbling a little today but it's a day to day process and I don't have the drug to rely on.

I Quit !!!

Mom,

Its been a while since we have talked, I hope things are going well for you. I quit in '04 until '06. I was deployed to Turkey and pretty drunk. I saw someone pull out the same brand I used to smoke and well 2 years later I am still smoking. I was recently deployed to Qatar and was smoking over a pack a day which is alot for me. I am now on day 7 of Chantix, the quit smoking pill. Tomorrow is my quit day. So maybe we can support each other through this and make it a success for both of us.

Good luck and take care of yourself.
