Help Wanted Long Snapper

With Steelers longsnapper going out for the season with a torn ACL, the Steelers aren't looking to depend on James Harrison (or other Steeler starter) to perform the duties for the rest of the season.  According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the Steelers have looked at four candidates to replace the injured long snapper.

Also possible is the signing of a punter to fill in for an injured Mitch Berger if it's found that he's unable to play for the upcoming game against the Washington Redskins on Monday.

I didn't look at Eric's profile. Oops. Well, it still made sense looking at it from the other direction

Mercy.... I didn't know what I was getting into here....

I thought perhaps I had wandered into a recipe blog with some cross breed between an eel and a red snapper as the center of the plate of the dinner.

Long snapping has been taken for granted over the years. But, as any special teams coach can tell you, they don't grow on trees. They have to be more accurate than a quarterback, while standing on their head to complete the pass that they must complete.

Hope it works out for you moms....... It's really no fun holding your breath on every kicking down.....

Take care.

BigBlu,

You realize Eric is a Redskins fan and I don't think he was looking for James Harrison to gain confidence by having him do the long snap on Mondays night game...lol.

I haven't seen this afternoons news yet to see if Warren is scheduled for surgery or what...as far as Berger, guess we'll know closer to the game.  The Steelers signed a punter to their practice squad in case Berger can't play Monday.

I agree with Kay, it was a tough situation for Harrison to deal with out of nowhere. Mystico had mentioned in one of his posts that Harrison's snap had good form and was on target, which is very true. Since they signed Retkofsky I guess it's moot.

I haven't seen any updates on Warren other than being placed on IR. Any word if he had surgery yet? What about Mitch Berger's Status?

rlicata1,

Interesting enough, we tend to take quite a few positions for granted on teams.  The punter being one.  We sit and gripe about spending a high draft pick to pick up a good one, and take him for granted when he's able to kick the ball where it will drop on the 5 yd line to back up the offense...god help us though when he goes down and the backup punter punts a 20 yd ball.  (Man do I miss Daniel Sepulveda).

Jelly,

I'm sure quite a few teams took notice (otherwise it wouldn't be such a big topic in the mdia  )

Bronco,

Mom does quite well speaking for herself, but I'll venture to guess Mom's Help Wanted Ad is just trying to stop the high hard one and replace it with a stroke that is right on target.

Mom:

I know that Jelly has already gone there. . . . . .  If you put on your boots and get your whip, you might have better luck getting a "long snapper"--in fact, you might get a "whipper-snapper". . . . really reaching aren't I??
