My Top 10 NFL Games of 2008

With the 2008 NFL schedule finally published, a challenge went out to post your top 10 games.  Normally I would have passed this by but I'll bite.  So here's my list for what the top 10 will be.

Week 3:

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis

With the progress being made in the Jacksonville, it’s possible that the Colts actually will have to run the season before grabbing the AFC South title, which could be taken away from them by the Jaguars.  If the Jaguars start out strong against Indianapolis in the early part of the season, the Jags could run the gauntlet and we could see a shift in power next season.

Week 4:

Ravens at Pittsburgh

Except for the first game in 2007, a game against the Ravens is never an easy one.  Ravens will be healthy and own the Steelers for the most part.  Ravens have a chance to start their season off by beating the defending AFC North champions.  Steelers need this game as to not fall behind in the division.

Week 6:

Patriots at San Diego

Definitely no love loss between these teams.  Chargers defense is going to come on strong, as always.  Chargers will be out to prove they can beat the Patriots and the Patriots will continue to attempt to humiliate the Chargers.

Giants against the Browns

The Browns have an opportunity to upset the reigning SB champion and show the world that last season was not a fluke.  The Giants are out to protect their crown and want to prove that they weren’t a fluke also.

Week 8

Cardinals at Carolina

Two teams with potential to be division winners.  Delhomme will hopefully be healthy and the Cardinals young team will be in sync.  This will probably be the most underrated game of the week.
Week 14

Cowboys at Pittsburgh

Cowboys/Steelers games are will always be reminiscent of the Bradshaw/Staubach matchup.  Could Romo/Roethlisberger make these games as exciting as the ones I grew up with?

Week 17:

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh

Given both teams strength of schedule for next season, the possibility is great for a nail biter for this past seasons AFC North division contenders.  This game holds implications of a tie breaker for the division title in 2008

Final Three:

Colts/Steelers – Steelers/Patriots – Patriots/Colts

These three games represent a triangle….Patriots had taken the AFCC away from the Steelers and went on to win the SB that year.  The year after Steelers had done the same to the Colts, the year after the Colts took out the Patriots and got the monkey off their back.

Okay, so I’m a Steelers fan, why wouldn’t the majority of my top 10 be Steeler games…lol.

My Top 10 NFL Games of 2008

Well Clovdyx,

Not quite sure, actually I think alot is going to have to do with Arians and how he's going to get that oline to protect Ben.  Defense I'm not too worried about, but I'm seeing a 9-7, 10-6 season.

Thanks and best of luck to the Patriots also, except on the game against Pittsburgh (where hopefully Anthony Smith WILL NOT be playing).

Any prediction on the record this year, Mom?  Personally, I'd say 10 - 6 or 11 - 5.  They've got a tough road...the two best divisions from last year (AFC South, NFC East) plus the Pats and Chargers.  Of those ten games, I could see them losing at least five or six...maybe more.

Best of luck to you and your team, though. :)

Nah bluelou...I don't think the two Cowboys Giants game...IF and I say IF I were to chose a Cowboys/Giants game then it would be the last one with tie breaker potential.   Then again, remember, I do have my Steelers bias showing here (that's why it's titled MY top 10...lol).

However, I can understand why these games would be in the top 10 for Giants/Cowboy fans, especially the Boys fans.  Only people who thought the Seahawk/Steeler game would be a top 10 to watch last year was because of SB XL.  Seahawk fans were out for revenge to prove that the NFL gave the SB to the Steelers and the Steelers were out to exact a little revenge for themselves (and was that revenge sweet...sorry Seahawk fans).

Well JD, I can see where the Bills and the Dolphins could be the most exciting game of the year, especially given that it will be held in Canada.  Though I think there will be more excitement in attempting to cross the border for the game, then the game itself.

Actually, I can see the Bills games being at the top.  Last year, alot of the problem was due to the massive amount of injuries that plagued the Bills.  With Losman being, well, somewhere then other on the field, the Bills may actually provide some competition for the Patriots in the AFC East.

week 17, Patriots versus Bills. How badly will the Bills run up the score on the accursed Pats.  Dick Jauron becomes the new evil genius.JD,  don't you think you are going a little over board with this statement. I mean, do you actually think the Bills will run up the score on the accursed Pats, but I guess anythings possible right?

I think you have to put the first of the two Cowboys Giants games on that list as well becasue in Dallas I'm sure there is still a bad taste in their mouht about losing to the Giants in the playoffs.

I can understand why the Bronco's game would be an exciting one.

It should be an exciting one for the Pats fan. Hopefully the Pats can finally break that losing streak with them. I'm definately looking forward to it. lol
