We got a good lively debate going over the new standard scoring system. I am curious to see what a poll might reveal on whether you like it or hate it. See the poll in the message board below ... and feel free to sound off further there.

This year we added 1 point for a rushing first down and 1 point for a recieving first down. The problem is when there is a td scored. When a rushing td is scored you recieve 1 point for a first down no matter if you score from the 1 yard line or the 50 yard line. When you score a td recieving, you do not get 1 point for the first down again no matter how far it is. When I contact cbs they never answer my question why it is scoring it that way. any help would be awesome.  thanks

Standard scoring system debate

i could not agree more.  Even when pitchers do not pitch all that well the penalty for the loss sometimes has nothing to do with the pircher himself.  Yesterday both Verlander and Beckett had subpar games, with almost identical stats.  Both should have taken losses but the sox came back to erase the beckett loss while the tigers did not.  In our  head to head format that was a ten point swing.  This shot gun approach to fixing the 2 start pitcher problem has rendered every pitching decision a crap shoot.  In fact if even good pitchers can get hammered with huge negative points why not start 2 start pitchers anyway?  What is the difference?

Standard scoring system debate

new system stinks like my beloved dog's breath after a good long session of but lickin! but (no pun intended) i DO think that after ten years  of head to head w/ CBS i WILL be moving on to other sites for my fbball fix. unless this SMELLY new scoring  becomes more realistick i am out for greener pastures! good luck to all (cuz thats all it is anymore w/ sp's) RJM in HUMBOLDT by way of BALTIMORE.

Standard scoring system debate

Well Eric , you already know my thoughts on the new scoring system and unfortunately it isnt just a "culture shock" as you like to indicate in your blogs/videos.    I think the reason the majority of fan are upset is because CBS Sportline did not allow its members to have some say in how the point system was created.   If we did it might not have been such a harsh and unrealistic change which is causing all of the angst toward the new scoring system.    I'm sorry but it unrealistic for a pitcher who pitches a quality start for 6 or 7 innings, giving up only 2 runs, one base on balls, one strike out, 7 hits, to only get 2 points.   Every team in the "real baseball" world would love to have pitchers who have these stats and certainly that outing is worth more than 2 points in the fantasy baseball world.   I understand the two pitcher issue , however, what you did to try and "fix" this issue resulted in causing more issues that it did not need to.   I think next year CBS Sportsline will be in for the "culture shock" when alot of its long time players go elsewhere for their fantasy fix.
