It is 10 days until the official start of baseball season. That's right Pitchers and Catchers report for some teams on February 14th. Personally I am pumped for the start of baseball now that the Super Bowl is over I have 3 things to look forward to.

  1. The swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated!
  2. March Madness!
  3. The start of MLB Regular Season on March 30th.

And what a start for all these events with the Super Bowl. That was one of the best Super Bowl games I have ever seen right behind the Steelers winning Super Bowl 40. I don't think I will ever forget Eli avoiding the sack and the catch by David Tyree.

Now to talk about NCAA Basketball.

It is still a crazy season for the Missouri Valley Conference.

Drake is the real deal and they are a shoe in for the NCAA Tournament. The only question is will the Valley get 2 teams in the Tournament. Right now I would have to say yes. But I think it will be one spot between 2 teams. Illinois State and Creighton. Creighton has a big game Tuesday night agains Northern Iowa. While Illinois State plays Drake on Tuesday night.

Illinois State has the toughest part of the schedule coming up until the end of the season with games against Drake, Bradley, Missouri State, Creighton and Southern Illinois. I am not sold on Illinois State and I believe they are too young to get through this tough stretch of games. So I think they will falter down the stretch. Illinois state has 4 home games and 3 road games remaining on their schedule.

Creighton also plays a similar schedule down the stretch as Illinois State. They have 4 home games and 3 road games in their final 7 games.

Since Creighton and Illinois State has a very similar schedule down the stretch let's take a look at their RPI and SOS

Illinois State- is Ranked 47th in RPI and their SOS Rank is 96th

Creighton- is Ranked 54th in RPI and their SOS Rank is 82nd

This is going to be a great race to which one of these teams will make the NCAA Tournament. This should be a great MVC Tournament this year. I can't wait for it to start.
