SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!

Posted on: October 7, 2008 5:02 pm

This is one of my favorite times of the year.  We have playoff baseball, college football is getting really interesting, the NFL is starting to shake out, the chase is on, hockey is starting and basketball is just around the corner.  Unfortunately so is the election.

What happened to us? We used to debate every snap, every game of every series, every move in the polls.  Now we are up to our ears in voting records, debates and left vs. right.  I want my sports haven back.  The real world sucks, most minds are made up so shut up already!
I am as guilty as anyone for having my threads that become more of a personal meeting place to catch up with friends, I am also guilty of liking the off topic goofy threads.  I am not guilty of flooding the boards with my personal likes and dislikes and trying to goad fellow posters into fights.

I want my sports site back!!!

SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!

Hey red, I can see Tierra del Fuego from my home. Oh, damn, this is not my home. Oh yeah, and I talked the Bills into losing, just so you wouldn't envy me so much. Do you still love me?

SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!

FWP back for the Bungles. They really lived up to that name against the Cowboys. Could have gotten a win and then the same old story. I think Chris Perry has five fumbles so far.

SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!

HELLO RED!!!   Haven't talked with you for a while. I started visiting CBS to discuss my hometown college basketball team. I quickly found that there were a lot of people out there with similar tastes and interests that I have. Many threads are a nice respite for us baby boomers to reminince about commonalities in our past. I enjoy debating as much as anybody, but too many threads, whether about sports or politics, descend into shout down matches rather than intellectual discussions. I therefore tend to avoid those types of threads because for the five people there who want to be polite, there always seem to be one troll who dominates the thread until everybody leaves. So I seek haven in those sites I know are frequented by posters I know and who know me. I share the sentiments that you ask for in your posts, but realistically the people that it most applies to are too unselfaware to realize you are talking to them.  Hope to cross paths with you again in the not distant future.

SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!

Yeah I know all the Seattle teams suck right now but I would rather talk about that than all this other crap.  When is Willie Parker coming back btw?

SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!

I am concerned about the economy and I am paying attention to the debates but I miss going to my connections page and having several different topics to choose from, now is seems like the same 4 topics with 10 threads each.  Maybe part of the problem is how many threads are started pertaining to the same things, they are burying the sports conversations.
