Pietrus doesn't belong on the court in Game 5

I'm stunned. Stunned. Orlando's Mickael Pietrus clubbed the Lakers' Pau Gasol in the worst manner at the end of Game 4:

1. When Gasol wasn't looking;

2. When Gasol was vulnerable in the air;

3. When the play was over;

4. When the game was over;

5. Violently, with two hands balled into fists and two forearms delivered into Gasol's back.

Yet the NBA decided not to suspend Pietrus for Game 5, because the NBA decided that foul wasn't flagrant enough.

Fine, NBA, but we'd all have more respect for your decision if you'd just come out and say it -- you want there to be a semblance of drama entering Game 5, and without Pietrus, there would be no drama at all. Pietrus has been Orlando's most consistent guard on offense and defense, and without him, the Magic would have to defend Kobe Bryant with Courtney Lee and give Pietrus' offensive looks to J.J. Redick. And nobody wants to see any of that.

Shame on you, NBA. Pietrus is apparently a decent guy and a clean player, usually, but that foul was beyond flagrant. For the NBA to study it, and determine otherwise, makes me question the intelligence and -- worse -- the integrity of the NBA's leadership.

Pietrus and Gasol make me sad

I understand what Pietrus did.  He was frustrated and felt humiliated by that last dunk.  OK.  Was it right?  No.  Should he be suspended?  I don't think so.  No one got hurt.  Frankly, it wasn't as bad as it looked at first.

How Gasol responded was atrocious.  I do not understand it!  What a nasty, poor winner.  Up until that moment, Gasol's nastiness, I thought this had been a great series.  I've been pulling for the Magic because they appeared to be the underdogs and I want a 7 game series, but I think it would be great for Kobe to get another championship.  That and I do believe LA is the better team.

But, following Gasol's performance and the attitude of the Laker team in winning, I'm sick of the whole thing.  I'm done watching.  I hate poor losers.  I despise poor winners.  I want to throw poop in all of their faces.  I do not want to see Gasol smiling with a trophy.  I would pay not to see that image.

I loved watching the 90s Bulls... but between the Knicks and the Pistons they took oodles of cheap shots.  OK, Rodman gave back and maybe better than he got, but you never saw one of the Bulls acting the way Gasol did.  They were always gracious in victory.  Every winning team ought to be, can afford to be.  After all, you're winning.  Gasol should have taken his shots and sat down.  That's all.  I'm done with this series... unless, of course, there is a game seven.  If so, I'll watch that and pray the LA cry baby sore winners lose.

He is Jewish, what do you expect? Do you think he will go? you are dreaming..... He is not going any where. Every big position in this country must be controlled by a jewish person. That's a fact.

It's Fisher time.
Golden Fish should knock the hell out of Pietrus next game and give him a clear message for his dirty play.
The NBA did not fine or suspend Pietrus for Game 5 for rating purpose. They want a heated game 5 or final game full of drama and tension.
In the NBA book, you push a player with 2 hands while he is in the air, that is flagrant foul. Plain and simple.
This is the second time this happen to a Lakers player in the play off. It happened b4 in Nuggets vs. LAL game when  pushed Kobe Bryant.
OK, this is not a whining and bitching time, but imagine Gasol landed awkwardly and got hurt or Kobe B. or any other player.  That could've affected his career or ended it... That's not a sportsmanship, that is not clean Basketball.

NBA should have acted against Pietrus. I don't care it is finals or not. They need to be consistent and send a message to all NBA players not to play dirty.

Pietrus, Look out in game 5. Fish is going to head butt you lol

Pietrus doesn't belong on the court in Game 5

The game had not been decided yet and the Magic were going to foul just like they did to Gasol.  The refs as told by David Stern were not allowed to call a foul on the Magic the entire 4th quarter.  Gasol was getting clubbed everytime he went into the paint.  David Stern must go.  He is too corrupt!

Caper: Whether Gasol should or shouldn't have shot the ball is irrelevant.  It was an intentionally dirty, thuggish play that could have resulted in serious injury.  Your pathetic whining about the "classy" thing to do is stupid.  The "classy" thing would have been for the thug Pietrus NOT to slug a defenseless player in the kidneys!  You stupid moron! Until the clock says 0:00, the game is ON, buddy!  And if the game was over, why the hell was the Magic in a full court press??  You stupid, whiny, jerk!

Your right, this decision is about ratings and not rules.  If it was during the regular season or an early playoff game he would definitely be gone for a game.

I agree the foul was flagrant but Gasol shouldn't have shot the ball. The classy move was to take one dribble to the corner and hold for 3 seconds. There was no need to score or expose himself to danger. Ariza would have dribbled away the remaining seconds if the Magic hadn't tried to foul him, but that didn't happen.  He saw Orlando players coming at him at full force which forced him to pass the ball to Gasol for a dunk.  Trying watching the replay again with your eyes open.

So you're saying it's his fault because he wasn't classy and shouldn't have scored....

There's the old saying - if you don't want me to score then stop me.  I guess they should add "stop me without committing assault"

I agree he didn't have to score, but Rashard Lewis didn't have to tap the ball so far.

There was horrible officiating in this game (4th quarter free throws: Orlando 17, LA 0, really?) but this was an even more horrible ruling.
