I'm so happy for My LeBron

That's right. I called him mine. I claim him. Look, since I dislike so many athletes and coaches, and since I make that so very clear, can't I just this once admit how much I do like one? Because I really do like LeBron James.

And the Cavaliers just did right by him. They got him some help, and not another prosthetic leg to add to the pair already propping up Zydrunas Ilgauskas. They got him Shaquille O'Neal, who's too old to be the dominant Shaq who teamed with Kobe Bryant for all those NBA titles or even the almost-dominant Shaq who helped Dwyane Wade win one in Miami.

He's past his prime, but Shaq is still good enough to dramatically upgrade the Cleveland frontcourt, which is what LeBron needed. So as a big fan of my boy LeBron, I want to welcome The Big Paterno to Cleveland.

I agree that the Cavs still need a taller wingman that can play a little defense, but bringing in Shaq helps them againts Orlando and Boston...and they gave up nothing!  His rebounding alone would have helped versus Orlando on those long rebounds.  And the fact that you can run an offense through him allows for an alternative to forcing Lebron to go 1 on 5 and gives West and Williams a chance to hit even more threes when Ds have to collapse on Shaq who still draws attention.  And when LBJ drives he has a finisher like no other to dish to.  Plus, Cleveland can basically save Shaq for the play-offs.

If Cleveland can land a tall wing-player via another trade (the contract of Wally Sz is of value), in the draft or sign a low-level guy who can match up against Hedo or Rashard, they will be tough come the 2010 play-offs.

And the effort doesn't hurt the 2010 marketing campaign or when the Cavs try to convince Lebron to stay long-term.  It's all about gettign that ring before LBJ runs for NYC.

Lebron did NOT get beat by Dwight Howard instead he got beat by the Orlando Magic's tall wing players like Rashard Lewis and Heid Turkoglu he completely dominated Delonte West and Moe Williams.  Shaq is DECLINING big time yes he was an All-Star last year and won MVP of that game but give me a break every team will play hack a Shaq during the playoffs.  Why not go get Boozer or Gerald Wallace?  Wouldn't that make more sense becuase they can match up on the perimeter?  Sorry Lebron yes the Cavs got better but unless Shaq finds the fountain of youth no title AGAIN.
