Very rarely will a person finish a story, unless they're finishing one of mine, and say out loud, "Damn that was good."

But I just finished this story about the Ariza-Artest trade and said, out loud, "Damn that was good."

Oh, and I got the link to this story from a blog. RealClearSports.com.

See. I'm not a liar.

Ah, Plaschke, the ever-lovable homer alarmist.

Personally, reading or listening to him is a true test of my gag reflex.  There's not a good thing about that whatsoever.

The article was ok...but the best thing about the Lakers getting Artest is now they don't have to face him in the playoffs!! If Houston makes the playoffs Ariza doesn't strike fear against the Lakers!

It was well-written and well-reasoned, as is always the case with Plaschke. Unfortunately, his premise was a little off. Artest and Ariza got identical deals -- five years, about $33 million. If he'd known that, he could've ripped the trade even more!

I love this deal for the Lakers (and I don't even like the Lakers)...they get one of a handful of guys that can play defense on Kobe.  This team is an offensive power house, and they just upgraded their defense 20%. Plus they stole one from Lebron and Shaq. Ariza can be an 'X' factor for most teams, but he's a great swing man. This is a scary team on paper...which I think will show on the court too. Artest is serious about winning a championship.

Berger, how modest of you, but honestly, as new of a member as I am, I have already read many of your articles and said, "Damn, that was good." You called the Artest deal, you were right on top of Hedo every step of the way. When I log on to CBSSports.com, one of the first things I check is to see if you have written a new article.

The biggest news lately: Phil Jackson coming back, Artest with the Lakers, Hedo with Portland Trailblazers then switching to the Toronto Raptors, and you have been the one to report if every step of the way.

The Los Angeles Lakers with the Ron Artest and Kobe Bryant tandom will dominate while Hedo Turkoglu in Toronto will merely contend. I look forward to reading more Mr. Berger.
