Ortiz is a druggie, and I'm mad at me

Why am I mad at me? Because I thought Ortiz was a steroids user for years. So did you. So did anyone with any common sense. He goes from being an average player with the Twins to being a Hall of Famer with the Red Sox, and he made that improvement in the Steroid Era, and yet he wasn't on 'roids?

He wasn't, not officially, until the New York Times outed him today. So now we can all talk about what we already sort of knew: Ortiz was a juicer.

Great. But too late. Which is why I'm mad at me. I had no guts, or I would have called out Ortiz years ago as the cheater we all thought he was.

There are two players right now I think are cheaters. Two sluggers. Both in the National League. At least one of them was in the HR Derby. If I had any guts I'd come out and say it: _____ is on steroids.

But I don't have any guts. So I won't say it.

And in three years when this guy, and the other guy, get outed ... I'll be mad at myself then, too.

Until then, speculate away on the two players. Figuring them out should take out about ... five or six seconds.

Ortiz is a druggie, and I'm mad at me

As a Phillies fan, I think its obvious Howard is up to something. It's not so much any one thing, it's too many things in this day and age that add up to something I hope never comes out. The ridonculous power to the opposite field, the absolute moon shots, the way he seems to get better at a time of the season most power guys usually tire out. A big weight change in the off season.  And he basically swings with one hand on the bat. He looks like Bonds they go out so easily. I truly hate to admit this, but I would be shocked if Pujols was clean, and Howard, Utley and Ibanez too. Such is the time we live in as fans. Sad.

Ortiz is a druggie, and Doyel's right

You folks have no idea how many people are juicing. Not because you are stupid but because like me you are too friggen naive. Just wait until the 104 member list is finally made public. Then all your "heroes" are going to be exposed. Not my Chipper? Don't bet on it. Not Pujols? He is already been reported to be on the unpublished list. Folks, if you want to make the big dollars or be Medoza Joe, then the decision is do the roids or else. It is now prevalent in High Schools more than you realize. No matter how clean cut or well spoken, never, never, never underestimate the draw of money on the most "immune" and "sanitary" player. Lay off Doyel. He is simply saying what too many in the know are afraid to say lest the bloggers attack him for his forthrightness as many are doing here. Get real folks. We may be being made idiots but let's not make ourselves idiots. Truth has a way of making fools of us all.

Ortiz is a druggie, and I'm mad at me

If you watch the news or follow sports at all, you would know that Ortiz confirmed he was on the list.  I'd say that is proof enough.  The only question that remains is what he tested positive for.  He is supposedly trying to find that out and will release the info when he finds out.  We'll see what happens.

You and everyone else actually BELIEVE  the New York Times and it so-called report?
The NY Times the paper that itself used to be "clean and impectable" and has recently been exposed
many times over the last few years as writing many articles that have been proven false more times than one.
The newspaper that has been forced to apologize in print several times not to mention being exposed
for bad journalism, plagiarism and fabrication

errrr.....can you say Jayson Blair? Any you call yourself a journalist??

Until qualified and 100% certified documentation is made, I suggest staying away from anything brought
out by the New york Times and start use of the word allegedly.

Maybe it is you who is the actual "juicer."

Yanks and Sox were built for the steroid era - the roster is getting longer - Wait until Nomar comes out. (Schill too?)    Every Domincan player needs to be scrutinized for 'roids.  We were all amazed at the success from players coming out of DR.  Fact is, it's about as easy to buy steriods there as it is buying a box of Pop-Tarts.      These crocked sports agents should give all their money back from getting their take on baseball cheaters' bloated salaries that were  ill-gotten from steriods.

What exactly does a guy look like that has driven on meth? Could you please direct me to an objective source that shows what a driver on meth looks like please?

I am a Red Sox fan and if this is true it is very dissapointing, but holding one's tongue before the facts are all out is called prudence not stupidity. I am confused about journalism in general, when did it go from reporting verified fcats from verified sources into a right to slander in order to be the first one on the journalism block to "guess" at the facts. This all on the heel of the very definition of proffesional journalism's icon death.

You should praise yourself not condemn by first acting as a responsible human being, citizen, and journalist in this matter. This is the lesson you are learning to take away. then maybe one day you will be able to fill bigger shoes and go greater places, becasue you are a trustworthy source of journalism. Just a thought.

I agree, I think that Ortiz should receive even more scrutiny for using 'roids than Bonds did.  Obviously thats not really possible, but that's what should happen to him.  In my opinion Ortiz is as big of a fraud as Canseco which is as bad as it gets.  However, I guarantee that almost all of the players on the Mitchell Report were also using PED's in the late 90's.

Ortiz is a druggie, and I'm mad at me

Yeah I'm mad at myself also. The local diner started selling bigger burgers back in 02. This year in the East Bum.... Rag I read that the farmers they were buying meat from were using BGH (bovine growth hormone) to increase the size of thier cows. Deep down I knew the cows were juicers, but kept my mouth shut. If they go to 1/2 pound as soon as I eat the last bite I'll say, boy that was good.

first of all I don't believe everything I read especially from Anonymous sources and second when it comes from the governing body (MLB) I will then believe it. Until then play ball and let the chips fall where they may. GO SOX.
