Boise State is unworthy, and this is why

If Boise State beats Oregon State tonight, the Broncos are a safe bet to finish the regular season undefeated, and therefore in position to create another BCS controversy.

Which is absolute dung.

In the college football that I know and love, there are no "safe bets" to run the season and finish it undefeated if you win your first game. That's nonsense, but that's the reality for Boise State. Which means Boise State is nonsense.

Boise State as a national title contender, I mean.

Pick a school from a BCS conference. Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Ohio State, (OK, don't pick one from the Big East. That league sucks.) If any of those teams wins their first game, are they a safe bet to run the table? Of course not.

Boise State is, but only because Boise State's schedule includes Miami (Ohio) and Nevada and something called UC Davis. Georgia plays Florida. Oklahoma plays Texas. USC plays Ohio State. And there are plenty more tough games where those came from.

Boise State is a nice story, and probably a pretty good football team. But Boise State as a national title contender? Come on. You don't really believe it, right?

Boise State is unworthy, and this is why

THE AUTHOR OF THIS ARTICLE IS DUMB, dumb BCS homer, they play a weaker conference, uncontrollable, and when they beat a good BCS team, big deal their conference is weak right.     You just wanting to see those in power stay in pwer sicken me.  get a life you dead beats.  Give some credit when it is due and stop bitching when a poorer team wins a big game.

Boise State is worthy, and this is why.

Because no one wants to play them.  #4 USC vs. San Jose St., #9 Penn St. vs. Akron, #6 OSU vs. Navy, #2 Texas vs. Louisiana-Monroe, #1 Florida vs. Charleston Southern. So why don't shove your head up your a## , because I don't like you. Boise Bronco Fan

Boise State is unworthy, and this is why

i really think Boise should play in a better conference and actually have some routine matchups not the " 1 game defines the whole season" kinda of gig. I know its first game of the year but both teams played very very very sloppy and Boise tried to give the game to oregon with all those fumbles and missed extra points. Boise can beat any team if it was enough time to prep for them and break em down but i really wanna see what boise could do with a real schedule and a conference where they would have 2-3 teams actually "challenge" them.

ps Oregon abandon their option game and they didnt really have to but they to mix up alittle bit and they didnt/couldnt. Boise state exposed oregon lack of a strong passing game today.

Yeah, Oregon is such a good team that after winning they sock people in the face.

Oh, wait, they lost and acted like babies. Good prediction!

And you know those high talent non-conference teams that Florida is playing... what a tough schedule. LOL. Guess that knocks the Gators off any hope of a championship this year too then huh? Or is there still that special "its an SEC team" exemption? Yeah, figured you pansies would keep that around.

Doyel....that's enough.  Not sure why I continue to click on your articles from time to time.  If Tavaris Jackson was from Boise State you'd say they should be in the BCS Championship perennially.  Boise St. didn't pick their conference, and they have been good enough to earn more respect than you're giving them.

If they go undefeated a lot of people will be saying that. Do you not pay attention to college football at all?

Boise State is unworthy, and this is why

and when teams do schedule tough teams, utah last year, they play games against ucla, and at michigan, and that game against michigan was scheduled years in advance, and they catch michigan in there bs year, but look at utah they have played tough teams and against the pac-10 5-0 and has had two undefeated seasons, and oh yeah killed alabama, and even if alabama had the #6 overall pick in that game, the outcome would've been no different utah crushed alabama, and oh yeah plays oregon later this season and if oregon doesn't get there no pun intended, ducks in a row, they could be crushed by utah.

Look the problem with the bcs is only 66 teams have a chance at the natinaol title and oh yeah if these mid-majors make it to a bcs bowl, they have to split it with the other confernce members mad it's unfair, confernces like the big 6 can afford that, but the mid-majors, could make progress if they didn't have to share the money

Boise State is unworthy, and this is why

It's not Boise State that's unworthy.  It's the idea that going undefeated makes you a championship contender -- THAT is unworthy.  This "every game counts in college football" stuff is Bull.  It leads to championship contenders that are the best of the teams that played weak schedules, instead of the teams that weren't afraid to take on the best.  Lou Holtz has flat out stated that Notre Dame will be a BCS team by the end of the season, despite not being a great team, because they'll only play one ranked opponent.  Don't blame  Boise State if they do well under a stupid system, blame the system for being stupid.

Most of the bsu fans aren't asking for a national title game. We'd like to see bsu play tougher teams but most of them will not come here. Can you blame them though bsu has a huge winning streak at home and has the smurf turf. But it is rediculous to go undefeated and just because theyre in the wac there going 12-0 basically doesn't matter. They work hard too and it's not their faults of the teams they play theyve tried getting tougher teams but theyre also not a big school with the extra money to do all the traveling across the u.s.

What could they possibly do to be worthy?

I think it's obvious college football is in a sad state when you automatically assume one team is not worthy of being a national title contender based not on their record but soley on their conference.
Boise State is not likely to be a national championship caliber team, but we will never know under the current BCS system.
Even if Boise runs the table they are unlikely to be ranked high enough to receive an invitation to the national championship game.
In my mind this is totally unfair.
Look at college basketball, there's almost always a dark horse(small school) that runs way deeper into the playoffs than the so called experts expect.
We must adopt a playoff system for college football in order to have any amount of credibility to the crowned champion.
Don't leave it up to these so called experts and senseless computers to decide the national champions.
End the speculation and abolish the failed BSC system.
College football needs a playoff.
