LeGarrette Blount of Oregon, I mean. He's a young Pacman Jones. Is that a good thing?

Of course it's not a good thing.

He didn't just lose his cool Thursday night when he sucker-punched a Boise State player after the game. He became completely unhinged. He forgot where he was, who he was, and where he wants to go. And if he plays again this season, shame on Oregon coach Chip Kelly.

(Here's the video!)

A season-long suspension is a stiff, stiff penalty to pay for a college football player, especially a senior. But Blount has to go. A player cannot sucker-punch another player after the game, and then make it worse by trying to go all Ron Artest on the crowd. If it weren't for the police who stopped him, Blount would have been in the crowd making (punches) rain.

This might not be a bad guy, but that was a despicable show. And he has to go.

And if Chip Kelly doesn't see that, well, maybe Chip Kelly has to go as well.

I feel the same way....don't diss and push me right after I've been humiliated on the field. I bet that's the last time "punch-ee" gets in someone's face. As far as suspension goes..1 or 2 games for the puncher, 1 for the punch-ee.

hout deserves one game, especially with this incident coming after the ncaa started their whole sportsmanship/handshake thing

LMAO  That's a load of crap and you know it.  The guy TAPPED HIM ON THE SHOULDER.. THAT IS NOT A SUSPENSION... EVER !!!!!!

You can't start suspending people just because the person they literally barely touched reacted like a fricking monster and psychopath.

Let me ask you something. Do you honestly believe that the NCAA is going to suspend everybody who taps a guy on the shoulder after a game, makes a smart ass comment and walks away?? NO. NOT EVEN ONE WILL GET SUSPENDED FOR THAT THE REST OF THE SEASON !!!

So to suspend him because of what Blount did is retarded at best....

he wont do it and if he did it then blount has every right to press assault charges on hout as well

That's such a funny statement it leaves me speachless.  So you think I could tap you on the shoulder, swear at you and you can break my jaw in 3 places and we both get the same charges and penalties??

You guys need to get your head out of your asses, quit acting like children and forget about who your favourite team is and who you hate.  This is an easy decision for the NCAA....  Blount gets suspended.. end of story.

p.s  What about the fans he tried to destroy and needed 5 guys tackling him to hold him back ??  I suppose that was ok and to you it's human nature because they were mean to him??? awwwww. poor little ghetto boy !!!

The day the NCAA allows thugs to charge the fans in the stands and try to destroy them for saying mean things will be a dark day in college football my friends.. but that'll never happen..... he's getting suspended for a while...

REALLY... No, REALLY. A kid is someone that is not accountable for their actions according to the law. Blount acts like a grade school thug that doesn't know better. However, he is an adult and should have learned self-control a long time ago.  Shame on you Prof if this is your PROFESSIONAL opinion.

Four things:

1 - Only 2 people in this ENTIRE group of comments have mentioned the fact that Blount also punched his own teammate who was trying to help him get away from the situation.  Forget about causing a problem with the NCAA, what kind of rift are you going to cause with your teammates who are only trying to help you out and watch your back.

2 - Blount has been talking since last year about revenge and the whole "whuppin" he and Oregon were going to give Boise.  Trash talking went both ways on this one, sol the argument that Hout deserved getting punched is ridiculous.  Everyone trash talks.  Should he have touched him, probably not, but regardless, trash talking does not necessitate a punch.

3 - All of Oregon's players had revenge on their mind, I am sure.  Of all the people who you would think would've gone after someone, it would've been Masoli for that hit last year.  How many of Oregon's players went out and did the same thing as Blount?  Only one person in this whole section of comments points that out as well.  Kudos to the rest of Oregon for taking the loss in stride.

4 - I do not know how much Blount should be punished.  That is my disclaimer in this statement.  But to whoever said he doesn't deserve a full season simply because he might miss his shot at the NFL, that is ridiculous.  With Goodell in charge, the discipline and attempts to uphold the dignity of the NFL have gone up.  Teams are more and more careful about bringing in people with character issues.  Example, Michael Vick.  How many teams do you honestly think would take a chance on this guy based on his actions?

First, to the blogger. . .hypeocrisy deluxe.  The way you reported this story makes it very difficult to respect anything you have to say about ethics.  Obviously, you sacrifice yours for a payday.

For the good of Oregon, Blount should go away. . .on his own. . .work hard during the off-season and hope that the NFL will remember him.  Don't force his beleaguered coach and university to make the decision.  Don't force the new Pac-10 commish and/or the NCAA to make a decision.  If he doesn't do that, then unfortunately, he needs to be sacrificed for the good of the everybody and kicked off the team.

At least, he can take comfort that he did, finally, give a Boise State player an a**-whupping.  It was a beautiful punch.

you are a certified idiot.

did you hear all the junk that Blount was talking pre-game?  why shouldn't this guy from Boise go put it in his face that he got absolutely shut down all night.  if you can dish it out, you better be able to take it.  take it like a man and dopn't retaliate with a blind sided punch.
no excuse for what he did.

you're an idiot.

First off, if you would have seen the game they damn near did have a brawl BEFORE the midfield handshake when the teams first got to the field.  The coaches and refs had to keep them seperated.

Second, for all those people saying taunting goes on and is part of the game are idiots too.  Yes, taunting goes on before and during the game.  NEVER AFTER!  Have you people (who said taunting and trash talk go on after the game) never played sports at least at the High School freshman level??  That is why Coach Petersen grabbed his player IMMEDIATELY after the jackass started the incident.

That being said, Blount is still the bigger idiot.  He would have been suspended a couple games for the punch, but his carrying on afterwards having to be restrained from fans/security/teammates  gets him 4 or more. (Deserves more).

Typical backward a55 logic Kangaroo! According to your stupidity, girls that wear tight clothing shoud get raped????  You downplay the real crime because your judgement is clouded.  Blount is the biggest trash talker!!!  Even he doesn't DESERVE to be punched in the face you fool -- Obviously you have some anger issues as well.

YOU'RE AN IDIOT!  If you can't take it, don't dish it out.  Blount was the one running his mouth before the game saying that Boise was gonna get an a@@ whooping and then he can't take it when a guy makes a comment back to him?  ARe you kidding me?  What he did was illegal.... he assaulted a guy.... when he was turning and walking away!  Put him in jail and suspend hiim for the season..
