LeGarrette Blount of Oregon, I mean. He's a young Pacman Jones. Is that a good thing?

Of course it's not a good thing.

He didn't just lose his cool Thursday night when he sucker-punched a Boise State player after the game. He became completely unhinged. He forgot where he was, who he was, and where he wants to go. And if he plays again this season, shame on Oregon coach Chip Kelly.

(Here's the video!)

A season-long suspension is a stiff, stiff penalty to pay for a college football player, especially a senior. But Blount has to go. A player cannot sucker-punch another player after the game, and then make it worse by trying to go all Ron Artest on the crowd. If it weren't for the police who stopped him, Blount would have been in the crowd making (punches) rain.

This might not be a bad guy, but that was a despicable show. And he has to go.

And if Chip Kelly doesn't see that, well, maybe Chip Kelly has to go as well.

It is very clear that at the 7 - 8 second mark on that video BSU player #94 (DL Hout) makes initial CONTACT with Blount while clearly taunting him.  Blount overreacted and punched him, but it wasn't an uninstigated cheap shot.  dude, during the BS pregame handshake theyre making these kids do now blount was going off about how boise was in for an ass whooping. after the game hout tapped him and said "where was the ass whooping", maybe he shouldnt have said anything, but blount was running his mouth before the game and instead of taking what he dished out during the pregame he sucker punched him. if you ask me the REAL root of the problem is making players who are jacked up beyond all belief before a game shake hands with the players they intend on going out and pounding. if youre going to make it mandatory to shake hands do what the little leaguers do and do it after

Talking Trash???!!!!

Anyone who believes this Cheap shot was just because the boise player was talking trash is a complete fool.  Both team were talking trash for days before the game.  So with that philosophy in mind, why didnt these 2 team have an all out brawl at the midfield handshake before the game?  Give me a break you idiots

Maybe Blount shouldnt have been running his mouth the entire off season. You're as big a douche bag as BLOUNT. Go F yourself.

File criminal charges and kick him out of the NCAA for life.  No one needs a guy like this.

Suspend them BOTH

I usually don't like the posts that overly attack Doyel, but you should have watched the video you posted Doyel you tool.

It is very clear that at the 7 - 8 second mark on that video BSU player #94 (DL Hout) makes initial CONTACT with Blount while clearly taunting him.  Blount overreacted and punched him, but it wasn't an uninstigated cheap shot.  Hout gives him a little shove while talking smack and a second later gets punched.  That is how life works, you shove people and run your mouth...you are going to get punched.

There is no excuse for what he did. He should be suspended for the rest of the season...i dont care of the fact that he is a senior. You are representing your school! It's obvious to me that he cannot handle himself and has no intergrity. Correct me if i am wrong...but i thought i heard them say last night while i was watching it that Blount has been in trouble before? If thats the case, maybe he should have been dismissed a long time ago. You have to protect the schools integrity.....get rid of him!

It was obviously roid rage!  After all, it's inconceiveable that any decent athlete today is NOT taking steroids!  Just ask Doyel and Freeman.

I am amazed that some people are defending the kid from Oregon.
First, you have NO IDEA what the kid from Boise said; it could have been "good game buddy" or it could have been something bad, but you have no idea.
Second, IT DOESN"T MATTER WHAT THE KID SAID, NOT ONE LITTLE BIT.
This kid should not only be suspended for the year, but should face criminal charges.

The fact that people try to justify what he did by blaming the Boise kid for talking trash (if thats what he did) highlights what is so wrong with our sports culture and society in general.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE football and played in college myself, but all of these guys with over hyped egos and tempers is evidence that to many kids grow up with the wrong priorities.
You are being given an opportunity to get a free education, and play a great game.  I understand it sucks to lose, I am overly copetitive and a bad looser myself, but to cross that line is rediculous.
I don't blame the kid, I blame is parents for not raising him better, all of the coaches he has ever had, and anyone else who has failed to teach this kid the difference between right and wrong!

Re: Blame Coaches

I agree that coaches deserve some of the blame but not all of it.  I think the parents have to be part of the blame as well.  Granted people aren't able to "discipline" their kids today like years ago, but these parents have to instill a sense of responsibility and respect in their kids.  There are way to many kids that act like immature idiots, in sports and outside of sports.

never has a cheap shot been more deserved.  The Boise State gut Hout was taunting, chirping, being classless, and basically being a thug.  he absolutely deserved the punch.  Great shot Blount.  Maybe when classless losers run their mouth in the future, they may have to actually pay for that chech they wrote.  Throw them both out.  Is anyone else sick of the atmosphere of thuggery that surrounds Boise State.
