Let me tell you something about Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. -- They're serious about football. They're serious about Mike Gundy. And they're serious about T. Boone Pickens.

And all of it is related today, the day the Cowboys open what could be the biggest football season in school history.

Understand, while some of the rest of the country has mocked Gundy for his "I'm a man" hysteria, and while some have wondered what Pickens could possibly have been thinking by donating nearly $200 million to the OSU athletic department, people here aren't questioning squat .

And I get it.

The campus is beautiful. The stadium is immaculate. And Gundy is a rock star. Or, given his background, a country star. Whatever -- he's huge here. One tailgating section paid homage to Gundy, and to whoever the tailgating fan was, by sporting an enormous birthday sign that proclaimed, "I'm a man! I'm 40 today!"

More than three hours before kickoff, the parking lots are filling up. These people are serious about this football team, and Pickens made it possible, and Gundy made it come to fruition.

So if you're one of the people who have mocked Gundy or questioned Pickens, have at it. But in Stillwater, they're not mocking or questioning. They're supporting. Because they're grateful.

Either way Gundy and OSU look legit.  OSU-Texas for the Big 12 title and a NC bid?

Impossible, they are bouth in the south.   They play in Stillwater in October, should be a great game.

I support Gundy and Im an OU fan.  It may have been silly and borderline crazy, but underneath all of it he was backing one of his guys, and I support that no matter what.  I support OSU when they arent playing OU, but im in the minority.  Most OU fans hate OSU and vice versa.  I have a total of 10 aunts and uncles and it was 5 and 5  OU and OSU. (my mom didnt go to college) so I get to see it all.  I went to OU, but I still have a little tiny piece of my heart for OSU. Of course, I still hope OU kills them.

P.S. Carlson sucks....Ive always thought that.

Says the kid who never lived up to his potential, lost the starting job, and couldn't deal with the fact that he got replaced.  Kids always think the world is out to get them, and Bobby Reid is no different.  That follow up article that focused on Reid was just another attempt by the press to make Gundy look like the bad guy for standing up to them.  They tried it again this year when he instituted a media black-out the week before the Georgia game.  Well, the black-out seems to have worked, because OSU got the W today.

Freedom of the Press does not extend to the libelous schlock Carlson wrote about Reid.

Amen to that.  I gained a lot more respect for Gundy when I saw his "rant".  If I had a son who was being recruited by major college programs I can gaurantee that I would be very favorable toward a program recruiting my son that stands up for their student/athletes.

For all the people who are defending gundy acting like a little kid at a press conference just remember that the kid he defended hated gundy for doing so.  The kid not only transfered out of OSU but also says that gundy "defending him" was just a tool for gundy to look good for recruiting he said in an artical on last year he said that gundy never gave him the time of day and never gave him a fair shot at the starting job.  So defend gundy all you want but he is just as shady as any other big time college coach when it comes down to it.

Bob is right.  It was mostly Dodd defending that terrible story because he worked with Carlson while at Mizzou.  I'm pretty sure the OVERWHELMING majority of rational people saw what a trainwreck of an "article" that was.  I know Gundy got a million brownie points from me when he had that outburst.  I'd love to have my kids play for a guy that stands up to the media and their BS like that.

Actually, most of the "mocking" and criticism came from the media, who circled the wagons for one of their own, Jenni Carlson, who wrote the gossip column that ticked Gundy off.  The rest of it came mostly from U of Okla fans that hate everyting about OSU, particularly the fact the the Cowboys have a lot of fantastic new facilities.  95% of football fans and coaches around the country supported Gundy, and parents of recruits absolutely loved his defense of his players.  It has shown up very strongly the last two recruiting classes.  They still don't get the 5-star guys, but are getting a lot of 4-star kids now, which never used to happen.  So go ahead and keep the rant alive, it been a gold mine for OSU!
