Kiffin's right -- Urban was a douche

Posted on: September 22, 2009 7:22 am
Lane Kiffin deserved to be crapped on for his antics this summer, and lots of us crapped on him pretty good.

But when Kiffin is right, he's right. Which means that the dude in the dumper today is Florida's Urban Meyer.

After Tennessee put up a surprising fight Saturday, and Florida looked shockingly unimpressive, Meyer basically blamed his team's play on the swine flu. The second I heard those comments, I felt sick myself. Because that's crap.

Kiffin was out of line all preseason by saying stupid stuff about Florida, but now Meyer is out of line for saying ... stupid stuff about Florida. And stupid stuff about Tennessee, too. Blaming that game on the flu was a weak move by Meyer, and Kiffin called him on it this week by saying, "After we're not excited about a performance, we'll tell you everybody was sick."

Good for Kiffin.

Urban Meyer was a douche, and Kiffin called him on it.

Kiffin's right -- Urban was a douche

Good Lord! Everyone who has lost their virginity realizes, statistics can be used to make whatever point you want!!! Bottom line Tennessee under Fulmer was being BLOWN OUT by his biggest rivals...Virgin, That did not happen this year. Understand? Call a hooker my friend.

Real men don't spell their name with an extra letter. Bobb? Tomm? Erikk?

Come on now, guys - be honest. Do you?

Didn't think so. The State rests, your Honor.

So, he's not a real man. And if not a real man, then not a real sports writer.

And if not a real sports writer, then.. what?

Aa rreeaall ddoouucchhee hhiimmsseellff.

And do you give a douche bag any credibility?

Didn't think so.

But he'd make such a PRETTY hair dresser!

Kiffin's right -- Urban was a douche

Why all the bashing by the readers on Doyle and the other Sportsline writers?  His blog has resulted in 6 pages of debate by the readers.  He must be doing something right which includes giving us all something to debate.

And from what I read he's a much better writer than all of us.

Kiffin's right -- Urban was a douche

"The Gators streak ends next year in Knoxville."

The old "wait til next year comment".  And Kiffin tops that with "wait til Tebow's gone".  We never said, "wait til Manning's gone", we just went out there and beat him all 4 years.

I'm not too concerend with Kiffin's comments pre-season or after the game because we used to have a guy who was the master of this kind of stuff - Spurrier.  So I can't complain when another coach comes along and does it.

So Meyer got a little caught up in it and made some remarks of his own.  Big deal.  Bottom line, Kiffin is a loser.  He lost in Oakland and he's losing in Knoxville.  10 points, 40 points who cares, it's a loss.

Kiffin's right -- Urban was a douche

That really was a pathetic statement by Urban. He should have just stuck with this statement on why he didn’t open it up...

"When I saw them handing the ball off, you felt like they weren’t going after the win. They were trying to shorten the game. You look out there and they were down 23-6 and there was no no-huddle, so why go out there and throw an interception and throw the game away. "

We all know that is a lie but it's a brilliant way of calling Kiffin a pu$$ without coming right out and saying it.

The flu stuff is ridiculous even if it's true.

Kiffin's right -- Urban was a douche

Tennessee got beat by a better team, but they showed the country they are on their way back. Urban Myers should have said that UT played the game they had to play to win and we did not play as good as we should have. Case closed next game please, but to stand their and to blame his teams performance on the swine flu, my god grow up, both of you. By the way if you want to look like a bad ass with that hammer, try holdin' with one hand if you can. my little girl does'nt need two hands to hold that little thing.Undecided

"After we are not excited about a performance?"

Maybe you and Kiffen don't look at the stats!!!

The numbers say that statistically UT regressed against Florida from last year to this year.

The base salary of staff of the Tennessee coaches increased approximately $640,000.00 from 4.335 million to 4.975 million under the Kiffen regime.

When comparing what Fulmer's staff did against us last year and what Kiffen's staff this year, you come up with a few but by no means exhaustive raw numbers;

UT scored 3 more points in the first half this year compared to last year and 1 more point in the second half compared to last year (that's getting a bang for your buck)

UT had three fewer first downs this year,

.6 fewer yards per rush this year,

1 rushing touchdown in last year's and this year's game no passing tds in either,

21 more yards rushing this year,

69 fewer passing yards this year,

threw one more interception this year,

48 fewer total yards this year,

8 fewer plays this year,

.3 fewer yards gained per play this year,

3 more yards gained per punt (and that was without Nukeese) this year,

6 fewer yards gained per kickoff (Nuke where were you?) this year,

3:46 more minutes of possession to gain 7 more points this year,

third down conversions from 44% under Fulmer to 42% under Super Kiffy,

2 more sacks by UTs defense this year

Last year they lost to UCLA on the road. This year they lost to them at home.

It is safe to say that so far there has been a negative return on investment from the change in management at the UT program.

And then there is the fact that Deonte Thompson and Carl Moore (who are better than any receivers Tennessee has had since I can remember [Carl Pickens maybe]) did not play, and our All American Linebacker played one half (and UT still only scored one touchdown on a gift giveaway by us driving in for yet another score without him).

To say that it is being Kiffen like to attribute the performance of your team to the health of its key players (something that coaches on the collegiate and professional level do all the time) is nothing more a thinly veiled ploy to openly bash our program without justification.

Relying on an ignoramus' comment like when "we are not excited about a performance . . ." when his program is obviously excited about losing to us by only 10 points, and when his bowless Vols have no standard by which they would measure a bad performance (because most of them are) demonstrates the level of your desperation.

Actually, Gregg, I don't have anything against you as a person, and I've seen you write some good things in the past. It just appears I dislike you because every time I think you're wrong, it's to a degree that I can't help but vehemently disagree. But when you do well, I'm going to say so. That's only fair.

Al Davis' statement about Kiffin will be proven correct, probably before Tennessee's season is over.
Book it.
