Look, Brett Favre is a charismatic football player and that was a great play in the pocket to elude the pass rush and buy some time and launch a laser of a throw toward the back of the end zone.
But poor Greg Lewis made the better play. That catch was friggin' absurd. The quarterback play on that touchdown was terrific, but the wide receiver play was even better. And that will get lost in all the Brett Favre love.
Just wanted to note that:

But poor Brett Favre made a great play. Boyles comments are friggin' absurd. The throw on the play was great, even magnificent only highlighted but the great catch of a veteren reciever. And that will be lost to many who listen Doyle for his Brett Favre Hate. Just wanted to note that. Greg Lewis did make a hell of a catch, but he would not have made the catch without an even more perfect throw by The Great and Powerful Favre. I can't believe Doyel has a job...He has no idea what he is talking about. |

Farve kept his composure and had the ability to avoid the pass rush then takes a quick side-step back into the pocket, regains his footing, making a 32 yard laser pass (to where only his receiver had a chance to make the catch) and getting drilled for the winning touchdown. He seems to have the sixth sense that many of the better quarterbacks have, being able to feel the pass rush and take a quick side-step to release the ball accurately while being under pressure. Farve has only been doing “the same ol’ thing” in the NFL for 18 years. That was one hell of a catch! Greg Lewis only catch in his Vikings debut was a game winning 32 yard touchdown with two seconds left and keeps the Vikings undefeated. Congrats to Lewis for a catch. That’s a nice way to get acclimated with your new teammates. Gregg “The Tool” Doyel is still missing the point and doesn’t seem to get it. If Farve decides he does or doesn’t want to retire, well then that’s his choice to make. These are NFL on the field issues not off. There’s a big difference between the two so get over it and move on. I'm just afraid he can’t because Doyel is a hater, period. He wants Farve to fail, retire, injured, quit, whine, so he can tell you I told you so. Give me a break…What a self-absorbed jerk! Doyel, you must consider things that can't be measured: Leadership, the quarterback's role within a system and performance under pressure and be successful. So get used to it because this is just the beginning. |

Um ... the catch was the thingGeez, you just cant say that he had a nice game can you without dripping some vitrol over the top of it. With 89 seconds left at their own 20, he conducted a perfect 2 minute drill that was capped with a touchdown and left only 2 seconds on the clock and San Fransisco with no timeouts. I hate his off-season drama as much as the next person, but he played well, just admit it. 10 plays where Favre was the man in charge (passes or a spike to stop the clock). He got to watch the pass from the turf where he was dumped and he hit what had to be basically the last or close to last option in Greg Lewis. It was a great throw and a great catch and a great victory. Give the guy his due... This has got to go down as one of the most backhanded compliments possible. Does Jackson or Rosenfelds get this job done as often as Favre has and continues? That is what people in Minnesota think about. Face it Doyel, Favre is a good quarterback that keeps you neck deep in work writing about the beloved day that you can be the first one to drop a shovel full of dirt on his career. The Vikings picked him up for days like this and he delivered. They road his arm most of the day and he did it. They might need it next week versus the Pack, but then he likely gets some AP time off versus the Rams. |

Um ... the catch was the thingI agree, it was an awesome catch. The throw wouldn't have meant much if Lewis didn't stay in the endzone. At least Lewis will get his 15 minutes of fame because of it in some circles.
