Not another word about SEC referees

You hear me, Big Ten people? Not a damn word about any SEC conspiracies.

That Iowa-Indiana game was the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Questionable calls went to Iowa. A touchdown for Indiana was reversed on replays that never came close to showing enough proof to reverse the call on the field.

I'm saying it: I firmly believe those Big Ten referees, whether on their own or at the behest of the league, did what they had to do to keep the Big Ten's only BCS title candidate undefeated. And given how bad Iowa was for 3 1/2 quarters, they had to do a lot.

If you're a Top 25 voter and you don't vote Iowa down -- as in, worse than last week -- after this game, then you didn't watch the game. Or you didn't know what you were watching.

Not another word about SEC referees

I have no problem with Iowa, I just agree with Doyel that game should put SEC ref whining to bed. It was awful, but as I've thought with the SEC games, the players still decided the outcome. I'm just glad people can get their eyes opened to the fact bad calls happen in every conference, it's not a conspiracy, it's football.

Not another word about SEC referees

Let's talk about plays that impacted the game.  Two out of the three calls that could be considered questionable had no impact on the game.  Indiana scored on the following play on one and obtained a first down following another.  The other is certainly debatable, but was overturned.  Indiana missed a chip shot field goal that could have extended their lead.  They still lead by 10 going into the 4th quarter and lost by 18.  I don't believe the refs had any impact on the 92 and 66 yard touchdowns that gave Iowa the lead.  Indiana had plenty of chances to win the game and didn't close the deal.  Calling conspiracy is pretty lame, even for you.

Not another word about SEC referees

I'm sorry, but I just had to write again to laugh.  This is the stupidest thing I've read in awhile.

How about instead of bashing Iowa (which is the easy thing to do), you admire how a program, (that considers a 3 star recruit a good get, and is from the smallest state in the Big Ten), is able to beat big time programs like Penn St, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc (South Carolina, LSU, Florida in past seasons), and start 9-0.  Sure they aren't pretty and if you match Iowa up on paper, they'd lose to a lot of teams.  But thankfully they play the games on the field.  And Iowa has proven teamwork, heart, and desire can overcome a disadvantage in athletic ability.  Quit trying to analyze this Iowa team, because nobody can.  They defy logic, and I love it regardless of what you say.

Not another word about SEC referees

From where I was sitting, it appeared that the Indiana player was at least two feet out of bounds.  That dragging foot that spit up the cinders was clearly caused by a bad camera angle, or fairies.  I don't think Iowa should suffer when fairies kick up cinders.  On a more serious note, it is a shame that the only bad calls in college football today came at Iowa City.  And to think those blind computers only take into account that a team wins nine games against teams that overall have good records.  What a stupid way to rank teams.  Winning against good teams in their own stadiums is no way to rise in the polls.  I sure hope everyone else feels the way Mr. Doyle and I do.

You obviously didn't watch the game Doyle!

Iowa and the Big Ten are sick of your SEC bias.     Does Florida get crap for pulling out it's close games?  How bout Texas losing big to Colorado and then coming back to win?  Alabama needed 2 blocked FG's to win it's game.    Stop bagging on the Hawks.   Yeah, they were down, but you don't score 28 pts in tinal quarter by accident.  Iowa is the better team and won by 18 points?  What are you whining about?  One more thing for you to consider.. Iowa has now won 13 straight games and they've done it with good team chemistry and solid coaching.  I hope the Hawks make it to the title game and knock out Mr. ESPN, I mean Tim Tebow and his gators.  I'd love to see you eat your words.

Yes, it was one HELLUVA lot worse. Bama was up 12-3 with 3:29 left. Tennesse needed a fumble, a drive, an onside kick and a couple of highly opportune passes to even GET in the position to kick that FG. Not to mention UT has one of the best defenses in the nation. You are a complete idiot.

Im sorry but did it really matter in the outcome of the game.  1 I repeat 1 questionable call that resulted in score or not went in Iowa's favor.  It was a bad call to be overturned but I believe that he was out in the first place.  Just because Iowa got that one call it didn't affect the outcome of the game.

Come on ref conspiracy?  You don't really believe that right?
Iowa played a bad first quarter and then had to go against hellish winds for the 2nd and 3rd quarter.  Once they got the wind back in the fourth, they dominated like they should have.
Why would you drop Iowa in the rankings?  A team that was decimated by injuries found a way to overcome the wind, injuries and a 2 touchdown lead (10 pts going into the 4th quarter) to beat soundly a Big Ten team playing with a lot of heart.
Does Iowa need to play better?  Yes.  But did they win yet again?  Yes.  No need to drop this team in the rankings.

Was it really worse than Alabama needing 2 blocked field goals to win at home against a 3-4 Tennessee team??  Was it really worse than Florida needing a lot of help from officials to pull off a last second win against a mediocre Arkansas team?  I understand you hate the Big Ten and thats your opinion, but this little bit you wrote is way over the top.  It's a 4 quarter game and Iowa more than dominated the 4th quarter.  There was only one questionable call and from what I could see he didn't secure possession until he had hit out of bounds.  If that's not what you saw, then that is fine too.
