Not another word about SEC referees

You hear me, Big Ten people? Not a damn word about any SEC conspiracies.

That Iowa-Indiana game was the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Questionable calls went to Iowa. A touchdown for Indiana was reversed on replays that never came close to showing enough proof to reverse the call on the field.

I'm saying it: I firmly believe those Big Ten referees, whether on their own or at the behest of the league, did what they had to do to keep the Big Ten's only BCS title candidate undefeated. And given how bad Iowa was for 3 1/2 quarters, they had to do a lot.

If you're a Top 25 voter and you don't vote Iowa down -- as in, worse than last week -- after this game, then you didn't watch the game. Or you didn't know what you were watching.

To psu#1: of course you agree with 'Dumb-Ass Doyle'. That probably has something to do with Iowa beating YOUR asses in un-Happy Valley!

The calls were a little suspicious. But even if it's true I cant really blame the Big 10.
Just because the Big 10 is doing it too doesn't let the SEC off the hook. Maybe they're doing it to keep pace. That would be a sad statement, if that's the case college football is giving the NBA a run for it's money at being the biggest joke in sports.

Doyle: you're an idiot!
28-0 in the fourth quarter? Having a 'strength of schedule' of FOUR in the nation! SEC strenths of scedules in the 30's and 40's. You're a loser, unlike the 9-0 Iowa Hawkeyes. I'm out!!

I agree it was definitely a close call.  However the one camera view that showed that his knee was out of bounds first was from the front of the end zone and ESPN only showed it once before they really started discussing it.  In my opinion it was the only camera angle that showed the receivers knee hit while his foot was still in the air.  I do not know why they never went back to that angle.  Obviously the replay official did.

BabeMantle49, you are an idiotic moron who knows zero about college football.  Iowa has 3 games left to validate the top 5 ranking that they deserve to date.  Key words there: to date.  If they are a fraud, we will see that at some point over the next 3 weeks.  Until then, get over it...

Big Ten referees didn't give Iowa the game

Mr. Doyle:

I must have to wholeheartedly diagree with you on your assessment on the Big Ten crew working the Iowa-Indiana game today. I didn't see the game, but I listened to it on the radio on the play in question. I did see the highlights, and it seems that the IU receiver did NOT have complete control before his hip hit out of bounds. The rule states that the first body part (hand, foot, shoulder, hip, whatever, other than the football) must be completely inbounds for a catch to be complete.

But you didn't look at the big picture of the game. Even if that catch was allowed, it would've been 28-14, and maybe later on be 31-14 IU. Iowa would score 28 points in the fourth quarter. That would make it 42-31. Still an Iowa win. Indiana cannot hold onto a lead if they were covered in Stick-um. This is the same team that had a 28-3 lead at Evanston before Northwestern rallied to win 29-28.

What we're whining about with SEC officials isn't SEC officials in general: It's one crew. The same crew that gave Alabama's opponents a penalty that wasn't warranted also flagged the Mississippi State player for a late hit that also wasn't warranted. They were rightly suspended.

Still, these people are human, and mistakes do happen. In this case, this call (or at least a reversal of a call on the field) did NOT determine the outcome in the slightest. The ones that one crew did for both 'Bama and Florida did.

BTW, Iowa has a winning record against SEC teams, especially in the Ferentz era. Shut up about Iowa not deserving its record. Scoreboard!

Doyal, did you bosses at CBS have you blog this because they are in the SEC pocket? For a reporter you suck! I watched the game and 28 points in the fourth quarter is not bad. But you are biased anyway so why waste my time. Go back to reporting for SEC and leave the real reporting to the pros.

My respect for you, Mr. Doyel, has always been considerable, and now it has risen even higher with you having balls enough to publicly state how you, (as almost anyone besides biased fans should),  feel about the game just played between the Hawkeyes and Indiana.

In response to an article by Dodd last week, I tried to explain logically why his lavish praise of Iowa was undeserving and I was promptly labeled, (by hordes of Hawkeye and Big-10 fans),  an idiotic moron who knew zero about college football.
