Come to your senses, Royce White

You're 6-foot-8. You weigh 250 pounds. You have enough basketball skill to play someday for a six-figure contract, possibly even in the NBA for a seven-figure deal.

And you're quitting basketball? Because the going got tough?

Grow up, you big baby. It can't be easy dealing with allegations that you stole a laptop from a dorm room, and if charges come and a conviction happens, well, wow. That would be awful.

But don't quit basketball. It's your ticket to the good life. You're going to throw that ticket away?

Come on. That's crazy talk.

White plead guilty to theft and disorderly conduct (both misdemeanors), not assault.  The disorderly conduct charge is dropped if he stays out of trouble for 1 year.  Seems the police don't believe he wasn't involved, or at least knows who was, with this laptop deal and they are dragging it out to sweat him.  In any case, this dude isn't making very good choices in life.  A mentor like Tubby Smith could steer him on the right path, looks like he's going to throw that away.

Doyel you holding that hammer cracks me up

It literally throws out any sense of sports journalism out the window. This whole website is turning into a blog of opinions and commentary rather than anything that resembles journalism.Thank goodness for Yahoo Sports and fan sites.

It's only a big deal because there are hardly any thugs up here.  If this happened in Florida or California no one would even blink.

Its not just the laptop allegations. The guy is a bum. He tried stealing over $100 worth of stuff from MOA and then assaulted a security guard. He got kicked out of his high school Junior year for being an idiot and then transferred to the best team in the state for his Senior year. I thought he would grow up once he got to college and realize that if I just stay out of trouble for the next couple years, I could make the big bucks and buy things that are $100. WHAT AN IDIOT. When will this guy learn? Someone should seriously walk up to the goon and tell him "ARE YOU STUPID? STOP BEING AN IDIOT AND LIVE BY THE RULES!!! ITS NOT THAT ****'in HARD!!!!! HOW STUPID COULD YOU BE?!?!?!!?!?

So you find yourself in a bit of a pickle.  You are a prized recruit and do something stupid, enough to get put on probation.  If your not on the court, how do you stay in the spotlight?  What would Ochocinco do?

He didn't attend six years of evil medical school to be called Mr.  This kid hasn't played ball at all this year and he is getting National attention, and everybody is eating up.  He'll play, probably for Minnesota next year if the laptop incident goes nowhere.  Probably somewhere else if he is convicted.  But for now, he's finding a way to get in the game, just not on the basketball court.

White clearly said that he was leaving college basketball.  His exact quote was something like "This is my city [Minneapolis].  I'm not going anywhere else."

And let's not forget that he plead quilty to the assault and robbery charges from the Mall of America case.  There was no way he should be let back on the team even if he came out clean from these laptop-related charges.  Tubby should have let him go a long time ago, and I think White got tired of waiting for the inevitable.

But maybe I'm giving him too much credit.  Maybe he just wanted to move on to his emerging Youtube-video-making career.  It honestly wouldn't surprise me.
