Calipari, LeBron and Wes? Bullcrap.

I don't believe it. Not for a second. I don't believe any of the rumors of a LeBron James-John Calipari package deal, including rumors that haven't come out yet but will eventually. Whatever they are, whenever they are, I don't believe them.

The rumor today was printed in the Chicago Tribune by a solid NBA reporter, K.C. Johnson, who wrote that "noted NBA power broker William Wesley continues to work back channels to sell Calipari and James as a package deal" to franchises with room for both. I don't believe that. Not for a second. I'm not saying Johnson is lying. I'm saying Johnson was lied to , and yes, it happens. It has happened to me, way too many times. Sources who think they should know things make the leap from thinking something to knowing something, and they make that leap to a reporter, and the reporter prints it, and there you go. Rumor becomes fact.

But I don't believe this one. Or any of them, as they relate to LeBron and Calipari and the summer of 2010. And I'll tell you why.

Calipari won't allow it.

Hear me out. I'm about to win you over with some common sense, so wait for it. Here it comes ... Now:

Calipari has already gone on the record, via his Twitter account which reaches all of Kentucky Nation (and then some), that he will not coach in the NBA next season . If he leaves for the NBA this offseason, he's a liar. Cynics among you will note that Calipari made a similar pronouncement last year when he was quoted as saying he planned to be at Memphis -- and then days later he was at Kentucky. I hear that.

But this is different, and here's why: If Calipari goes to the NBA with LeBron, not only is he a liar -- he's a stooge, too. He goes to the NBA as LeBron's lapdog, and I have to tell you, I don't see Calipari as being anyone's lapdog.

Do I rule out Calipari's eventual return to the NBA, to coaching LeBron some day in the future? Nope. I don't. I can see a scenario where a season ends, the NBA team with LeBron makes a coaching change, and Calipari gets the call. But now? Riding on LeBron's coattails? Using LeBron to get a job in the NBA even as he has gone on the record to say he won't do just that?

Nope. Not gonna happen. Calipari's ego is way too big to let this happen. That's not an insult, either. A big ego is a healthy thing. It fuels you to succeed at a high level -- and it also prevents you from being anyone's stooge.

Calipari, LeBron and Wes? Bullcrap.

To me it seems like there are 3 4 demographics taking sides on this issue.  And they all have their own agendas.
1.  Memphis Fans = butthurt that Calipari left them last year, and that Rose got them in trouble.2.  Kentucky Fans = hoping that the NBA rumors aren't true and hoping to not get the Lane Kiffin treatment from Cal.3.  Fans of all other NCAA teams = Hoping, wishing, praying that Cal goes to the NBA because they feel threatened by his success on the recruiting trail. 4. Homer Kentucky fans with their heads in the sand that pathetically put up other team's avatars (such as BYU) to gain more perceived credibility.

Fixed it for you.

Calipari, LeBron and Wes? Bullcrap.

What if Mr. William Wesley links LeBron James, Coach Calipari and the Nets, with the 1st pick in the 2010 NBA draft. That would bring Coach Cal, LeBron and John Wall together, with a coach and his player reuniting. I think LeBron and Wall would be a dynamic duo together. Just what if. . . . . . .

Stop the John Wall slurping

He didn't even lead his team to a national championship, and everyone is ready to annoint him as an NBA All Star.  Yes, his situation may turn out like Kevin Durant (in his one year not making as much noise in the NCAA tourny as expected, but turning into a fine NBA player), but the chances of that are low, so please stop the John Wall slurping.

"...WALL IS A SPECIAL PLAYER... CROSS BETWEEN C. PAUL, D. WADE AND LITTLE LBJ."  Way to jump on the hyperbole bandwagon before the guy has even put in an NBA practice.  You've just made him sound like a future hall of famer...might be a tad early to start talking like that.  Let's let the kid play a few years and then start talking about how good of an NBA player he is.

Here is what's gonna happen

LeBron will use the prospect of Calipari to Chicago to leverage more money.  He will say that Calipari only wants to coach in Chicago and that he is interested in going there with Calipari, unless New York pays him X amount more money.  Calipari will allow him to do this and more than likely play coy about it, because it benefits him to do so.  He and LeBron have their marketing/recruiting scam working full swing and since it benefits both of them they will continue to exploit it.  New York will  fold and end up paying LeBron just under whatever 30 million dollar plus deal he is asking for and LeBron will be a New York Knick next year.  Cleveland fans will be all upset they got behind such a money/attention hungry star and someone of decent stature will also be wooed by LeBron into signing with the Knicks, be it Bosh, Wade, Joe Johnson, whoever.  The only other scenario I can see is LeBron pulling the same scam on the new Brooklynn owner.

I have to pile on here... this analysis makes no sense at all.  It seems to be written with an opinion, then some fluff to fill in one-side to try to make a point.

The rumors are there for a reason.  There are talks amongst some if not all mentioned.  That you can take to the bank.  If there are talks, then anything is possible because you have interested parties.  Bulls (I hope), but the previous poster makes a very compelling arguement for the Nets.  Money talks, and if you are old as I am you know that an NBA franchise can do a complete u-turn with such a deal (lakers, celtics, in recent memory).

The rumor of Brons mother sleeping with his teamate Delonte West, only pushes him further from Cleveland.  If you have not heard of this, brush up.  Bron is gone from the Cavs, so some if not all the rumors are true.

mustbegood, surely not even YOU believe that crap about Cal and money?!?!  Do you think for one second if UK wanted to keep Cal it couldn't, and wouldn't, match any NBA offer in terms of money??  You're either crazy or smoking something.  This UK, not 335 other colleges.  They can afford him, and they will pay him, if that is what it takes and they want to keep him bad enough.  Use at least a little intelligence and say he wants a pro job because its a pro job, and not college; or the brighter lights of NY or Miami, or something semi-intelligent.  But don't even fool yourself for one minute that UK can't and won't pay what it takes to keep Cal.

Calipari, LeBron and Wes? Bullcrap.

SUCKED THIS SEASON FOR A REASON. THEY HAVE 2 HIGH LEVEL SPOTS. IF THEY GET 1ST PICK(PREFERABLY JOHN WALL OR EVEN TURNER OR JOHNSON) TEAM WILL BE LIKE FROM 3 YRS AGO  ONLY YOUNGER AND BETTER. STARTING LINEUP COULD BE LIKE THIS:

B. LOPEZ C
L. JAMES SF
C.BOSH PF
D. HARRIS PG
J.WALL/E. TURNER SG/PG

PLUS C.D- ROBERTS AND T. WILLIAMS

REST OF TEAM FILL IN THE BLANKS.

TURNER MAKES MORE SENSE NOW BUT WALL IS A SPECIAL PLAYER(SUPER FAST ,WORKS HARD, NO EGO AND CROSS BETWEEN C. PAUL, D. WADE AND LITTLE LBJ).

THEY ALSO HAVE RICHEST OWNER IN RUSSIAN GUY AND JAY Z IS SUPER TIGHT WITH LBJ. PLUS THEY WILL BE THE BROOKLYN NETS IN 2 YEARS. SO HERE COMES NEW YORK. AND THIS COMING FROM KNICK FAN LIVING IN JERSEY.

Calipari, LeBron and Wes? Bullcrap.

There is a major difference in coaching at a place like Kentucky and a mid major school like memphis!
Lets face it Kentucky is on national TV almost every game, while memphis plays on public television.
But let me ask everyone this:
Why would Calipari take a chance and screw up like Pitino did when he left UK for the NBA?

Calipari, LeBron and Wes? Bullcrap.

Regardless of whether or not William Wesley's involvement in this alleged scenario is true...

You're ruling it out because Calipari doesn't want to be LeBron's stooge? I don't understand. How is the prospect of coaching the most talented player in the league (not to mention one you have a good relationship with) not attractive? It automatically makes him a winner. Historically, not such an easy task for college coaches coming to the NBA.

I say is his ego is so big that he avoids any situation where he's viewed as a bad coach. Teaming up with LBJ virtually guarantees that. Seriously, what are the odds that Calipari would leave a dream college job to coach the Bucks, for example?
