Loving the NCAA's decision on Ohio State

Posted on: December 23, 2010 4:44 pm

Bowl games are for fans. That's all they are -- they're games for fans. That's why bowl invitations are awarded in conjunction with tickets, tens of thousands of tickets in the case of a bowl game as big as the Sugar Bowl.

This is why the NCAA made the right call, the Solomon-esque call, on Terrelle Pryor and four of his teammates. More than 10,000 OSU fans already have bought tickets to that game, which includes for many airfare, rental car (or other ground transportation) and hotel. Plus food for the duration of the trip.

Imagine being those fans, showing up in New Orleans, and watching the Buckeyes' backup quarterback. Whoever he is. And watching the Buckeyes' backups at receiver and running back. And watching the Buckeyes score three points.

T-shirt idea: I spent a week, and $3,500, in New Orleans -- and all I got was this lousy 21-3 loss .

Nonsense. The NCAA wasn't protecting the Buckeyes. The NCAA was protecting fans -- it was protecting you, if you want to know the truth. If you're not an OSU fan, embrace this anyway because the precedent is set. This could be your team in a year or two.

Pryor could turn pro after this season and therefore evade the punishment. That would be a shame, but what do you want the NCAA to do -- predict the future? More nonsense.

Stop complaining, just because you can. Stop complaining, and be pleased that the NCAA did something with us in mind.

Loving the NCAA's decision on Ohio State

The NCAA is a modern day slave ship. Letting "Toby" play for the "massa" so as to not make the white folk mad at the suga bowl. Total BS. There is Furthur proof in the actual punishment. How in the hell are these kids supposed to pay a $2500 fine? Do they seriously think they can? This is why they sold their items of value in the first place. To get money! One day the NCAA will be exposed and forcing players to play for the league's profit will be deemed to violate the players constitutional rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Loving the NCAA's decision on Ohio State

Agree that Tressel is a class act (I'm a huge Michigan fan).  However this is at least the second time he has taken the high road with OSU improprioties.  With the Maurice Clarett situation he claimed he had no knowledge of what his player under his responsability was doing.  If the players were not adequately informed then the school and coach need to be held accountable.  Where is there punishment?

This is simply ridiculous.  Players get improper benefits and get a 5 game, post bowl suspension.  Cam Newton doesn't know his dad is pimping him out.  No penalty.  UNC gets hammered with penalties and suspensions.  Where is the equity?

Loving the NCAA's decision on Ohio State

Since "the fans" are Ohio State fans, I say suspend them for the bowl. The NCAA needs to grow a pair and do the right thing. In fact, if Jim Tressel does not do the right thing, I will lose all respect for a man who has done nothing but good for college football. BUt, like a lot of coaches, I am sure he will get a huge bonus for winning the Sugar Bowl. Same old story, the $ win out.

the ncaa is full of it. 1st of all the cam newton scandal and now the buckeyes players trading favors for tatoos. I think a higher source must enforce the law on these 2 incidents. If it  were unranked teams I bet the players wouldbe suspended asap, what type of example is the ncaa or schools setting for the future generation? I guess cheating, and bribing dont count as any wrong doing. Cheating and bribing should be allowed in the classroom. I just hope that in the end justice is served.

Hating the NCAA's decision on Ohio State

I've been an OSU fan for years. But this stinks to high heaven. The NCAA has defrauded every school OSU has played since these infractions. They have an agreement to play by the rules. They didn't live up to that agreement. They made sure OSU had a better chance to get the winning money from their bowl game. They flat out cheated Arkansas out of their rightful position in this game. How is that not fraud? IMO jail sentences should be applied to the cheaters at the NCAA.

This has been a banner year for their cheating. They've been doing it for years but now it's downright absurd. Why is

Newton still playing? Why is Selby playing? How could they let Selby play and not let Enes Kanter play? How could they let Newton play at all? Why is Bruce Pearl still coaching? Why is Jim Calhoun still coaching? Why isn't South Carolina filing a lawsuit claiming unjust victory by Auburn? Why isn't UK filing suit over Kanter?

The NCAA is an outright sham of an organization and I can't imagine why any school would be associated with it. I really can't. Why not just take money from the small schools and give it to the schools on the "teams we like" list? Does anyone think the fact that the ex-president Mark Emmert of the U. Of Washington being the NCAA CEO doesn't have anything to do with Kanter being declared permanently ineligible? Losing Kanter and Jones to UK had to sting. Does anyone really think he wasn't trying to get even? That's fraud people. He should GO TO JAIL for it. They broke their contract to enforce the rules fairly. Every school in the country got a break except UK. Hmmm... I wonder why? Because of Emmert, that's why.

I hate the NCAA. I'm beginning to hate college sports as a result. It's so dirty it's outrageous. Let's talk about Corey Maggette, Sam Gilbert, John Wooden and a long list of other known cheats. Yet CBS still treats Wooden like a saint. He CHEATED FOR YEARS AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT!!!! But the NCAA never laid a finger on him. Why? Because he was on the "teams we like" list. Why didn't Jerry Tarkanian get the same treatment? He was 20 miles down the road from Wooden? But he wasn't in the "right" conference.

The NCAA railroaded UK back in the 1980's. That phantom envelope that happened to pop open right in front of 20 UCLA fans who coincidentally were ticked off at UK for signing the great California players was another sham that led to a sham investigation that found nothing except a university president, David Roselle, willing to sell out his school for a cushy job in the northeast (the dream of every "intellectual"). He got hired as president of Delaware which just happened to be the highest paying university president job in the USA. He was at the "Ivy League School Of The Public Schools" and he was getting paid because he sold out UK.

The NCAA is INCREDIBLY corrupt. They suck. I hate them. I abandoned major league baseball for being corrupt. I can do it with college sports too. It won't even be hard. I'm sick of all the cheating. Anyone who thinks things are equal and fair in the NCAA is a loon.

SHOW ME THE MONEY

This is the same NCAA that just last week blew off Mark Cuban's attempt to have a bowl playoff?  And I quote "it's not about the money..."LMFAO  If this doesn't send the message that IT IS ABOUT the money then I don't know what would.  The NCAA is a joke.

Loving the NCAA's decision on Ohio State

Too bad for Ohio State and its fans. Rooting for your guy just got bushwacked. I understand these guys need money just like they need another tatoo. If the prevent department had done its job? Please, Free ride, all for free plus exposure to the NFL and possible huge rewards in the future.  The lack of respect towards the school is not really surprising. I'd like to hear from the student working a second job to get his education or the graduate looking at a ten year payment plan, do they feel like student athletes don't get paid? Sure they don't get millions but it could never work that way get real. What exactly are they teaching these kids? Steal and sell? Better get a grip and run some classes on ethics and investment. They could have gotten twice the value after the bowl game. I just don't buy that they aren't told once if not twenty times the rules. It's not like they are buying a house or trying to do your taxes. Silly thing is it's such a minor thing but then many kids are behind bars for minor things. I hope some of these guys finish college and use that payoff for what it's worth.

Protect The Bull Chit Staff

;     &nbs
p;     This is about protecting the BCS. Bull Chit Staff. They let not 1 but 2 players walk for now that are playing in BCS games. Pryor and his thug crew at Ohio State and Cam the Scam at Auburn. Both are media darlings. So let them play. Screw the other bowl teams. But we must protect the BCS. THE BCS is a bunch of crooks along with the NCAA , more crooks. This has been the worst and strangest year i have ever seen in college football. People sell a jersey to a person on facebook. The NCAA says he is a agent, sit that player 4 games, even tho the agent repesents NOONE. Bench half the team at UNC because some went to a party. Five years after they found out about it, the NCAA pops usc after the bandits bush and pete are long gone. They catch a man red handed pimping his son. A violation of NCAA rules. LET HIM PLAY. He smiles like a d-m jackass all the time, he will look great on tv. We will strip the wins in about 5 years after he has moved on. They catch pryor and his band of thugs swaping who knows what for art work. Let them play. Its a BCS game. Protect the fans. I only want to know ONE thing. Who in the HE-L is gonna protect college football from these crooks that will screw UNC, UGA, Boise State, TCU and many more every chance they get. But a BCS bound team can do whatever and walk. The NCAA & the BCS are a Bunch of CROOKED AZZ MOFO's. Protect the fans my AZZ. SCREW college football and protect the BCS.
