Terrelle Pryor thinks you're stupid

Posted on: January 2, 2011 11:19 am

Full disclosure: I want to believe in Ohio State. I live in Ohio, my two kids will attend college most likely in Ohio, and my goal is that they attend Ohio State.

So this question is not coming from a Buckeyes basher when I ask the following:

How stupid does Terrelle Pryor think we are?

The memorabilia he sold, against NCAA rules, basically got a free pass from me. Seriously, check out my reaction to the story that Pryor and four teammates would be suspended next season, but be allowed to play Tuesday night in the Sugar Bowl. I loved that reaction from the NCAA. If my reaction was pro-Ohio State, so be it. I'm an Ohio guy, and my initial thoughts were of other Ohio residents.

But this story ...

This car story ...

Complete garbage. Everything about it stinks, from the alleged NCAA crime to the announced excuse. All of it. Garbage.

In a nutshell, Pryor has a habit of getting his hands on cars -- nice cars -- from Columbus-area dealerships, and then getting caught speeding in them. Someone smarter than me, please figure out the odds on that:

Pryor has these cars -- nice cars -- for a day or two, and without fail, he gets caught speeding. In that tiny, day-or-two window of time.

Every time.

Garbage.

I don't believe it. Sorry, I don't. I don't believe Pryor had those cars for only a day or two. I don't believe the car dealer. I don't believe Ohio State. I don't believe any of you.

I still want my kids to go to Ohio State. But at the moment, I want Terrelle Pryor to turn pro after the Sugar Bowl. Don't come back next season. I can live with you avoiding punishment for your memorabilia "ignorance."

But I'm not sure I can stomach the sight of you in an OSU uniform in 2011. That'll be my kids' school, you know. And Terrelle Pryor is starting to make me sick.

btw, they're also not "cheats."

the player is allowed to buy a car for WHATEVER PRICE the DEALER thinks is sufficient, even if it's $1 a month, with a lump payment at some other point down the road.

there's literally NO WAY AROUND this rule.  sorry.  been happening for decades, and in truth, considering how much monetary value the kids add to the school, and region, really not that big of a deal.

as far as big time programs go, i think the ohio state program is doing a pretty good job monitoring the team.  there are FEW if any ARRESTS for CRIMES.

Terrelle Pryor thinks you're stupid

Yeah, it just stinks...
:-)
He's not taking bags of cash, but what he is doing, probably, is getting to drive a car with the assumption he will one day come back and do car commercials for the dealer.  THIS HAPPENS WITH EVERY SINGLE BIG TIME PLAYER.
Not saying it's right, but it just is.
And he's not BREAKING LAWS.  In fact, he's not even BREAKING RULES.
So send your kid to a school like Dennison if you really want to avoid a problem like this because it happens EVERYWHERE.

You are right.  They are not criminals, they are cheats.  The criminals are the ones paying them.  Throw a couple of them in jail when they get caught- not just a "stay away from the program" slap on the hands.

Can we stop calling these guys criminals please. They broke rules not laws. There is a big difference. The top players will always get paid or get perks.

I guess my question is this:  Does Jim Tressel have any morals?  Or is football the only thing in life thie guy cares about?

He's probably getting straight A's too.  I like to think that at some point, these kids just need to be banned entirely.   If the school takes quick action, then they don't get punished by the NCAA.  If they act stupid and blind like many schools do, then throw the book at them when proven guilty.  Roger Goodell needs to step in and also threaten sanctions against players coming out of college full of convictions and indictments.  2 year banishment....see you when have grown up a bit.   He seems to be ruling with more of an iron fist than Tagliabue ever did.  Maybe it will work or maybe not, but at least now the players in the NFL have somewhat of a fear of getting caught.  Terrelle Pryor just has no fear as he has been handed everything up to this point.  Force him to sit out 5 games and tell him if he leaves early, then he can joi the NFL in 2013.  See if that makes other kids think first before they get influenced by the $$$ dollar signs....

Well Doyel, it is just like I said in your last garbage article....Ohio State and coach Jim Tressel don't care if they have "model" athletes on their team.  Tressel has shown many times at OSU that he is willing to play dumb and look the other way when his players are responsible for off-field wrongdoing.  And the NCAA postponing the punishment was the biggest joke of them all.

These kids deserve to be punished, not only for themselves, but as an example for all those coming into college sports in future years.  An example needs to be made, showing everyone that NOBODY is above the rules.

But...Tressel can care less about the rules.  Just ask Maurice Clarett.  Dick Tressel (brother of Jim) set Clarett up with a "fake" landscaping job when he was at OSU.  Real classy Jim!!!
