Terrelle Pryor thinks you're stupid

Posted on: January 2, 2011 11:19 am
Full disclosure: I want to believe in Ohio State. I live in Ohio, my two kids will attend college most likely in Ohio, and my goal is that they attend Ohio State.

So this question is not coming from a Buckeyes basher when I ask the following:

How stupid does Terrelle Pryor think we are?

The memorabilia he sold, against NCAA rules, basically got a free pass from me. Seriously, check out my reaction to the story that Pryor and four teammates would be suspended next season, but be allowed to play Tuesday night in the Sugar Bowl. I loved that reaction from the NCAA. If my reaction was pro-Ohio State, so be it. I'm an Ohio guy, and my initial thoughts were of other Ohio residents.

But this story ...

This car story ...

Complete garbage. Everything about it stinks, from the alleged NCAA crime to the announced excuse. All of it. Garbage.

In a nutshell, Pryor has a habit of getting his hands on cars -- nice cars -- from Columbus-area dealerships, and then getting caught speeding in them. Someone smarter than me, please figure out the odds on that:

Pryor has these cars -- nice cars -- for a day or two, and without fail, he gets caught speeding. In that tiny, day-or-two window of time.

Every time.

I don't believe it. Sorry, I don't. I don't believe Pryor had those cars for only a day or two. I don't believe the car dealer. I don't believe Ohio State. I don't believe any of you.

I still want my kids to go to Ohio State. But at the moment, I want Terrelle Pryor to turn pro after the Sugar Bowl. Don't come back next season. I can live with you avoiding punishment for your memorabilia "ignorance."

But I'm not sure I can stomach the sight of you in an OSU uniform in 2011. That'll be my kids' school, you know. And Terrelle Pryor is starting to make me sick.

I absolutely love the fans who say the players deserve to be paid because the school makes millions off football.  What exactly is the athletic scholarship that is worth 6 figures????  Is that not payment for their services?  What is the millions upon millions they spend on coaching staffs, equipment, uniforms, facilities, weight rooms, practice fields, road trips, etc?  Is that not payment for their services?  The Sugar Bowl they are attending right now -- who foots the bill for the flights for EVERYONE down there???  Who pays for all their meals???  Who pays for all the new swag they get?  Is that not payment for their services?

To break it down for you even further -- lets move this to the real world:

'Student X' graduates from college and agrees to work for a company for 40k a year.  The company goes on to make a profit of 40 million that year.  Does this give that employee the right to sell off the computer given to him by the company, or his desk, or maybe a company car?  OF COURSE NOT.

If these kids didn't want to play college football, they could have paid for their education like everyone else.  Signing that scholarship gives you a set of rules to follow.  It's not difficult to understand and Pryor stating yesterday he KNEW WHAT HE DID WAS WRONG, tells you those excuses by OSU are just that.  Excuses.

Also -- regarding the millions OSU makes and how players should be paid -- What about the programs who barely break even or lose money???  Do those athletes have to pay back money to the school to cover the losses?  Get real with the argument these players should be paid -- THEY ALREADY ARE!!!!!!!!

He is not a bright  kid.  Most importantly I hope he get something out of college cause he is not a pro QB.  Look at the list of Tressel failures, Troy smith is the only one in the nfl and he can atleast throw. The suspension is a joke, 5 games...Ohio state palys one of the weakest open schedules in college football.  They will lose another bowl game this year.  Good luck Terrel you should stay in school and actually learn, your gonna need it.

apryor makes millions for ohio state and should be able to use free cars whenever he wants. It's chump change anyway when the AD and coach are making millions.  He should sue for getting suspended.  Ohio St. is exploiting all the African-American players with these suspensions.

"Receive no money?"  Are you serious?  I, like many others, are significantly in debt for financing our own children's education.  Although not as athletically gifted, I am quite sure they were both far better students than Mr. Pryor.  Perhaps the surplus athletic revenue created by the schools should be returned to the student body who actually value the very expensive education they and their families have worked so hard to procure.  I think it is going to be hard to find too many people sympathetic to Mr. Pryor's "money" problems.  Perhaps "student/athletes" that cheat should be required to pay back the $100,000-$150,000 in tuition that some people apparently think is not compensation.

Smithyamiami...what you fail to realize, or accept, is that these project babies are given a free ride to college, their hands on whatever they want, all the fame & adoration in the world, etc..but you say give them a paycheck??? Responses like that are why these ghetto ingrates are spoiled, selfish bastards who want everything handed to them. Apparently a free education, free room & board, millions of dollars that are soon to come when or if they go pro, just isn't enough is it?

Yeah ... that's what I want smithy ... a bunch of college "TO's". You have to be kidding me. I'd be all for them getting some type of minimum wage, but that doesn't sound like what you want. So highest bidder? Who ever has the deepest pockets get the great players? Yeah, sounds great genius. That's the kind of football I want to watch ....

I totally believe Ohio State should be punished but the Cam Newton situation forced the issue at OSU. If they brought the hammer on Auburn they would've done the same to the bucks. But the bottom line is MONEY, SEC and Big Ten drive the NCAA money train.

If the NCAA was fair it would be across the board, I live here in Southern California, USC got hosed. I don't like SC or their fans but they got hammered by the NCAA.

Terrelle Pryor thinks you're stupid

I'm sick and tired of these self-righteous people like Doyel and the NCAA who claim that Terrelle Pryor is doing something SO WRONG because he, as Doyel puts it, "has a habit of getting his hands on cars" for playing minor league -- I mean, college football. (For the record, I do believe the Pryor and other OSU football players are compensated "under the table" -- I'm not that naive.)

As I see it, things are pretty simple. These players bring in enormous amounts of revenue for their respective universities, and, yet, they receive no money (not legally, anyways). That's absurd. I will acknowledge that they are compensated in other ways -- room and board, equipment, free access to the facilities -- but that pales in comparison the what they should receive -- MONEY.

The reason that people like Doyel accept this for what it is is because it has been a rule for so long. That's it. It's a rule, a stupid rule, but a rule nonetheless, so these people feel that breaking these rules are wrong, even though they are pointless, unnecessary, illegitimate, and, most of all, unfair,

Most rules and laws are legitimate and necessary, but some are, as I've pointed out, pointless, unnecessary, illegitimate and unfair, and not allowing college athletes to be paid is one of them, plain and simple.

Man, share some of what you're smoking with the rest of us.  The new years's hangover lasting a little longer this year?.....does The Ohio State University cheat?  Yes they do--just like EVERY OTHER FOOTBALL PROGRAM IN THE COUNTRY.  If you just hate the buckeyes and want to pick on them fine...but you can not be stupid enough to think this is some kind of problem that is isolated to one school.  If we were able to follow every SEC player around 24,7 I wonder what we would discover.  Oh, about your point "Does anybody outside of Ohio care?"  Evidently they do--any post about The Ohio State University on any of the national boards receives a huge amount of responses from people all over the country.  Unless you live in Ohio, you are proving your stupidity by being from outside Ohio but caring enough to take the time to respond.
