Georgetown, No. 12 in the RPI, to the NIT?

Posted on: March 10, 2011 4:02 pm

Nah. It won't happen.

But it should.

You heard me. I'm saying Georgetown -- with 21 victories overall, 10 victories in the Big East, No. 1 strength-of-schedule nationally and No. 12 RPI -- should be left out of the NCAA tournament.

At the very least, selection committee members have to consider it. Don't they? Georgetown racked up all of those impressive numbers -- the wins, the RPI -- with Chris Wright as its point guard. But Chris Wright isn't the point guard any more. Georgetown says Wright could play in the NCAA tournament, which is a bunch of crap. The only way Wright plays in the NCAA tournament on that hand he broke Feb. 23 would be if the Hoyas reach the Sweet 16.

Which means Chris Wright isn't playing in the NCAA tournament.

Because the Hoyas aren't beating two good teams without him. Hell, they're not beating anybody without him.

With Wright, Georgetown was 21-6 and looking at a No. 2 or No. 3 seed.

Without Wright, Georgetown is 0-4. All four losses were to NCAA tournament teams, but the Hoyas weren't even competitive -- they lost those four games by an average of 14.5 points -- and guess who Georgetown will see in the NCAA tournament? More NCAA tournament teams.

What I'm getting at is this: Since Georgetown can't compete with NCAA tournament competition without Wright, why should the Hoyas get invited to the NCAA tournament?

You have to admit -- that's a great question.

Georgetown will dance because of their play all season. Sure these last few weeks they suck, big time, but they should dance because they've earned it. And if they do dance they can be one of the BE teams that typically gets knocked out in the first and second rounds. It actually makes pretty good sense.

Well good thing your opinion doesn't mean **** to the committee. The 4 losses to Cincinnnati twice, Uconn, and Syracuse are by no means bad losses. So your saying totally take away what a teams done all year because they lost 4 games to top 25 teams after they lost their point gaurd/best player? Makes me think the only reason you get payed for your opinions to be written online is because you draw interest in the ridiculousness of them.

"2. SOUTH  DUKE /UNC acc winner"
The same Duke team that was pounded by St. Johns(A Big East team)? Doesn't really go along with your bashing of the BE throughout your whole post does it?

#1 seeds to be FAIR AND NON BIASED

1. EAST  Ohio State  IS A LOCK WIN BIG10 TOURNEY OR NOT
2. SOUTH  DUKE /UNC acc winner
3. MIDWEST KANSAS   IS A LOCK WIN BIG12 OR NOT

I disagree, Hoya's haven't had time to adjust.  Not a Hoya fan but see their potential.  The teams they lost against was Big East. In NCAA they will have easier competition in first 2 rounds and expect them to get that far anyway.

Nah.  It isn't true.
Did Gregg Doyel purposely choose a blog pic that pays homage to a mass murderer (the infamous hammer wielding self portrait of the VA Tech shooter)?
You have to admit -- that's a great question.

The Hoya fan in me wants to tell you where you can stick that opinion.......but the reasonable person in me gets it.  Without Wright, Georgetown can't beat anybody.
