Take a seat, James Harrison

So how hard does Roger Goodell hit James Harrison?

It has to be hard, right? In other leagues, players -- star players -- utter gay-bashing slurs and are fined large sums of money. Harrison just uttered one ... and according to this account of a story in Men's Journal, he uttered it about Roger Goodell.

So I'm thinking $250,000 and a game suspension. Maybe more, given that Harrison has been a thorn in the league's side for years -- handing out concussions as if they were lollipops, attacking players in the head in an era when that is strictly forbidden. This is an accumulation of offenses, of various varieties, and Harrison isn't getting the message.

Whatever Goodell does to Harrison, I'll support it.

And I'm thinking Ben Roethlisberger might enjoy it, too. Don't tell me you missed what Harrison told Men's Journal about his quarterback's play in the Super Bowl loss to Green Bay:

"Hey, at least throw a pick on their side of the field instead of asking the D to bail you out again. Or hand the ball off and stop trying to act like Peyton Manning. You ain't that and you know it, man; you just get paid like he does."

Take a seat, James Harrison

I'm sick and tired of people who think the Constitution says they can say anything they want without having to deal with the consequences.

ALL the 1st Amendmant says is that the U.S. Government can't limit your speech. Your employer can do anything they want. For God's sake, read the thing before you spout off on what you THINK is in it.

What's funny is that Harrison has absolutely no room to talk. Chad Clifton, an old man with bad knees, completely shut his sorry ass down in the Super Bowl. Harrison was limited to one garbage sack and zero tackles. So much for "the best linebacker in the league".

I too am getting tired of the constitution has the right of freedom of speech when it comes to these athletes who are getting paid millions and feel they are getting screwed for being fined for remarks such as these. I agree with the one person who said that if I made remarks like that about my boss, I wouldn't have a job anymore. Harrison its about time you take your talents to WWF where remarks like these are commonplace. How dare you try to place blame on your teammates for the loss. I have never been a steeler fan but if you are and support this jerk. Just another Rodman

Hey Harrison92 ... it's "you're." It's a contraction for "you are." When you use "your," as you did, it's possessive, like "your big mouth" or "your empty head" or "your utter lack of any redeeming value." That's not what you want if you want to be correct -- and I know you do. You want "you're" as you're trying to use it (see what I did there, Harrison92?). There. Hope this helps.

or a country that everyone admires based on all of its freedom giving, what in the World has happened to Freedom of Speech?
James Harrison is protected by the constitution of the United States, whether you like it, or not. Whether you agree or disagree with what he says, there shouldn't be any fines or game checks or suspension for speaking your mind... This country is dangerously turning into what we've stood against for centuries..... I will say this, if any action by the league is taken against James Harrison in any form whatsoever because of those comments, Harrison will have proven his point... Goodell is a dictator. And please spare me the "if you spoke to your boss that way, you'd be fire... bs" - Goodell isn't James Harrison's boss... Rooney is....
1. The last collective bargaining agreement (and surely the new CBA) gives the Commissioner proscribed disciplinary powers over player conduct. Of course Rooney also has direct authority over his contracted players, and I would expect that he'll exercise it in this instance. Harrison completely jumped the shark with this tirade. Multiple times, in fact.

2. Freedom of speech doesn't exempt one from the consequences of that speech; especially in the work place. You really don't seem to grasp that distinction.

3. If you actually think either Harrison's rant or the likely consequences of that rant will have any ramifications on the Constitution or the First Amendment, then your hyperbole makes Glenn Beck look like Walter Cronkite.

You are a complete moron. Im sure you and James Harrison know more about football than Goodell. Thats why he is the Commish. He's a 100% percent right about??? He called "Mendy" a fumble machine. How many fumbles did he have in 2010?? I will answer for you since I know you are a moron. He fumbled twice. Thats at the top of the league. Big Ben?? I hate him but all he does is win. When its all said and done he's probably a hall of famer. Tom Brady??? Def a hall of famer. Harrison is dirtbag who is heading to prison. More harrison foolishness: Turned down the invite to the white house after winning the superbowl "If the cardinals had won he probably would have invited them instead." You think James?? Thats how it works. Lets not forget he let a two year old get mauled by the viscious pitbull he has as a pet.

I love the people who say he has the freedom of speech.  If I went to a national magazine and called my boss this things do you think I would have a job the day after it came out?  Heck no.  Then I see this guy Harrison 92 complain about what Doyle wrote.  Let see the guy threw his teammates under the bus, he said he hates the commish with a passion.  He is writing his way to a one way ticket to the UFL.  I believe Harrison is doing this so when this cheap shot artist gets fined for his usual tactics he will say that Goodell can't fine him because he has it out for him.

Harrison is right about Roger, Ben and Mendy.  Yes, it's fair that there are consequences for saying that about the commissioner and teammates, but he's 100% right.  Goodell knows nothing about football, and he's badly misjudged public opinion on most aspects of the lockout, including the 18-game season.  Ben is a jackass and Mendy can't hold onto the ball.  All 100% true.

I'd like to see the league split between players who want to play the game the way its been played for decades, and pansies like Tom Brady who think contact should be removed from the sport.  Let Brady play flag football in a league overseen by Rog.  Real football fans want no part of that.
