Take a seat, James Harrison

So how hard does Roger Goodell hit James Harrison?

It has to be hard, right? In other leagues, players -- star players -- utter gay-bashing slurs and are fined large sums of money. Harrison just uttered one ... and according to this account of a story in Men's Journal, he uttered it about Roger Goodell.

So I'm thinking $250,000 and a game suspension. Maybe more, given that Harrison has been a thorn in the league's side for years -- handing out concussions as if they were lollipops, attacking players in the head in an era when that is strictly forbidden. This is an accumulation of offenses, of various varieties, and Harrison isn't getting the message.

Whatever Goodell does to Harrison, I'll support it.

And I'm thinking Ben Roethlisberger might enjoy it, too. Don't tell me you missed what Harrison told Men's Journal about his quarterback's play in the Super Bowl loss to Green Bay:

"Hey, at least throw a pick on their side of the field instead of asking the D to bail you out again. Or hand the ball off and stop trying to act like Peyton Manning. You ain't that and you know it, man; you just get paid like he does."

Doyel, like many "sports writers" sounds just as stupid as Harrison does but perhaps worse.  He is doing an INTERVIEW and is giving his OPINION (which we never have to agree with) and this sports "writer" thinks he should be suspended and fined for responding to a question.

Why would anyone EVER want to grant another interview when they could be fined and suspended predicated on an answer they might give?  Forget about it being "an accumulation of offenses"......unless answering an interviewers question can now be considered an offense if one doesn't like the answer.

Evidently this idea never entered Doyel's mind and he has even had the benefit of taking time to think things out thoroughly before putting the pen to paper (unlike someone who is answering a question).

The end of his contract can't come fast enough.  Kinda sad that he'll get a big payday when he goes somewhere else when its up, but watching him realize he's not nearly as good as he thinks he is in his head while playing on a crap defence will more then make up for it.  Another Steelers LB who's head became to big, and got sent out to pasture.

No fine. No suspension. Roger Goddell should personally invite James Harrison to NY to talk it out man to man for a tour of the real business world. Maybe if Harrison saw what civilized society is like, rather one in which your pitbulls attack your own children, you slap your wife around, you pull a BB gun on a coach in High School, you flip off fans, you run your mouth at will because you are not accountable nor want to be... do I need to go on? Like him or hate him, RG has credibility. Harrison has none. Maybe a meeting between the two will help Harrison learn something that his personal and professional peers have not taught him.

Or he'll just go into another jealous rage and attack RG and we'll have a real reason to throw him out of the NFL for life.

He actually deserves a fine for the gay slur.  Suspension....hahah...nope.  Fine though.

Harrison definitely is a different sort of cat and is not PC. He is not Troy P. , but not everyone has to come from the same mold.
But to call that guy a loser from the safety of your cubicle and behind your PC is kinda silly.

I think alot of people would switch places with the guy in a second with all he has accomplished.

Of course the racisits out there need not apply.

@Steel Curtain 2, I'd be a ok saying it to his face.  Let him kick the shit outta me.  It just further proves people point that this guy is a worthless pile of crap.  He's caused more harm to the NFL then any help.

If i were the coach/gm/owner of the steelers.  I'd have a sit down with this chump and set him straight.

I am a Steeler fan but I do agree with Redwings & Gregg Doyel...football is a team sport and there is no need to throw one of your own under the bus.  Yes, Ben hurt the Steelers in the SB, but he also won allot of games for them over the years.  You win and lose as a team. Plus, he no doubt will be suspended, which further hurts the team and promotes the selfishness that Harrison seems to be about. This is just another example of the selfishness that pervades not only professional sports but life in general...welcome to the "ME" generation.  With that said, while I love the way Harrison plays the game, I think he needs to go, regardless of how good he is.

Time for the Steelers to cut this idiot loose.  The huge contract he signed before the 2009 season only had 20 million guranteed dollars. He's already collected about 15 of it.... write him a check for 5 million dollars and let him take his overrated ass to another team.  I'm not a Steelers fan and I don't like them at all but I respect that organization and the Rooneys in a big way.  They are great at what they do and the Rooneys are great people.. very professional.  I loved how they basically told big Ben screw up once more and see ya later....  now it's time they let this buffoon Harrison go.....

Why is that quote of Big Ben wrong?  Ben flat out lost that Super Bowl.  He turned the ball over in their own territory all year long.  Don't forget the Balt fumble in the playoffs, only to have Ryan Clark bail him out.  Not only the turnovers, but his inability to complete 3rd and 2 multiple times.  Ben thinks he's better than he is, there is no doubt about that, so why not say it?

Have you ever played on a team of any kind in your life man?  Do you have any common sense at all?  A player with any brains at all (Harrison has very little) NEVER says those things in public about a player on his team, much less one of the leaders of his team.  He could pull him aside and speak with him privately, telling him how he feels.  He could call him and tell him how he feels after the dust settles... but NEVER and I mean NEVER do you call out a teammate publicly like that.

And for the record I don't like Ben at all... never did.  But Harrison is nothing less then a degenerate... a loser..... I'm very surprised the Steelers let him play football for their organization.
