Broncos 29, Steelers 23 in OT

DENVER -- He's no longer a novelty, no longer a mystery, no longer a fluke. Tim Tebow is now a playoff-winning quarterback, and not because he managed this game.

He won it.

With Tebow tying two franchise records set by John Elway and throwing the winning touchdown pass in overtime, the Broncos defeated the Steelers 29-23 Sunday to advance to the next round of playoffs, next weekend at New England.

Tebow threw for 316 yards and ran for 50, and produced touchdowns each way. He joined Elway as the only Denver quarterbacks in the postseason to (1) complete two 50-yard passes and (2) throw and run for a touchdown, both in the same game.

Tebow needed just 10 completions to surpass the 300-yard mark, throwing rarely but gouging the Steelers for huge chunks of yardage when he did. That included his 80-yarder to Demaryius Thomas on the first play of overtime for the winning points.

Thomas finished with 204 yards on four catches.

As good as Tebow and Demaryius Thomas were, Ike Taylor and the Steelers defense were bad. Cornerback play has always been a problem for Pittsburgh in recent years, most notably in the playoffs. Ike Taylor simply had a horrible game, and both he and Ryan Mundy failed miserably in OT. I doubt Ryan Clark would have blown the middle coverge on the overtime winning pass play. Give Tebow and Denver credit, but this loss also lies on the shoulders of a poor defensive effort, especially Taylor.

Yeah really enough already about the kid not being able to play in the NFL.  He's a gamer and never quits.  Pittsburghs defense had no answer for the Read Option.  Taylor, Harrison and Palomawho(?) nullified and neutralized by a rookie basicly 14 starts into his career.  And wishing ill will to anyone is just bush and shows a poor upbringing you had by your parents.  Tebow is a star rising.  He hung in the pocket and was afforded time by his O-line.  We will see more heroics like this from his passing game and when he picks his spots to run lots more Denver playoff wins.  The game is a team sport, 60 minutes long and in this case 60 minutes and 10 seconds.  A RB that can hold onto the ball and a burner WR and Tebow's continued developement and he's on a fast learning curve boys and the AFC West becomes a meat grinder again for teams in the East.  Mind you Tebow graduated from Florida in 3 years.  He hung around for a fourth and a 2nd NCAA title.  He's smart, talented and a good guy.  What else you want from this guy?  He doesn't have the same twisted value system as half of America has.  Bully for the good guys!

Mulattoking is a dirtbag. Dog fighting is horrible and anyone who thinks it isn't a terrible act should be in prison. You're a sick ticket dude. Tim isn't the best QB, and probably is one of the least skilled in the NFL. I won't argue that, but you're posts are uncalled for, ignorant and offensive.

Tebow is a character guy, and his story is uplifting to many people. Sounds like you have race issues and want us to believe that an convicted felon is a better character guy than Evangelical Missionary who has done nothing to make us question the true goodness and optimism that he displays. People like you are what's wrong with the world. If jerks like you would spend their time building up people instead of tearing them down this world might be a better place.

Go Tim, Go Broncos. Congrats and best of luck against the Pats.

Mulatto- rethink your life.

Ok,just to be upfront, I'm a patriots fan living on Colorado.  I watched this game rooting for the Broncos because the pats have struggled with the Steelers in the past.  And I still think this will be the best result for the pats. Ho early, the Broncos outplayed the Steelers today.  Although I think the Steelers were hindered by injuries, I am not sure that would have changed the outcome.

I do hate the whole religious thing that revolves around Tebow.  Even if he believes Jesus is responsible for his good fortune, does he have to make such a show of it?  It makes me want to gag.

Vick had his chance, but going to prison kinda ends it. He had his chance in Atlanta, but went to prison. What do you want me to say? It isn't my fault the guy went to prison and ended his career in Atlanta. He even has a second chance in Philadelphia and still hasn't won anything. Tebow was the one who the experts never wanted to give a chance and said he couldn't succeed. I never heard anyone say that about Vick. I heard that he was going to revolutionize the game and he got a 100+ million dollar contract. What do you mean he wasn't given a chance? As far as I can see, he has had 2 chances.   Also, if you don't think character plays a role in being a QB, you know nothing about football.

Cooter i said keep so-called "charchter issues" aside and strictly keep it about on the field play. Why does Tebow get a pass Vick never has?

Really Mulatto - compare a guy, whom you say is like yourself and helps 3rd world countries, has good moral values and stands behind his convictions versus a convicted felon, a person who is cruel to animals, a person who got caught with illegal drugs more than once and blew his more than 100 million dollar contract. Vick had his chance and blew it. If Tebow blows his chance, then he will be in the same boat, but you are a Moron if you think Vick wasn't given a chance in Atlanta. I live just south of Atlanta. Every kid for the surrounding 100 miles wore #7 jerseys, until he killed off several helpless animals for amusement.

Never mind Elway he had no choice but to back Tebow , It sure looks like Josh Mcdaniels Knew what he was doing when he traded those deadweight Stars in Denver and got Decker and Tebow nDoesn't it Now
