Bob Knight dislikes Kentucky -- it's transparent

Indulge me for a second and imagine this was college football season. And imagine there was a team, late in the season, that was demonstrably better than almost everyone else, bearing down on a spot in the BCS title game. Imagine that team was, say, Alabama. And imagine it had the likely Heisman Trophy winner in, say, Mark Ingram.

And imagine the most famous college football analyst in America, when asked about the top teams and players in the country, never mentioning the words "Alabama" or "Mark Ingram."

Couldn't happen, right? I don't care who he is -- Lou Holtz, Kirk Herbstreit, Gary Danielson, whoever -- no analyst could get away with that.

So why is Bob Knight getting away with it?

Why won't Bob Knight say the words "Kentucky" or "Anthony Davis?"

Knight was on the Mike and Mike show today, and he was talking about some of the top teams in the country. He glowed about Syracuse but never mentioned Kentucky, which is odd considering Kentucky is No. 1 in both polls. Of the 96 available votes in the two polls combined, Kentucky received 94 this week. Kentucky is the leading candidate not just for a No. 1 seed, but for the No. 1 overall seed, and is the overwhelming favorite of Vegas oddsmakers to win the title.

But Knight doesn't want to mention the Wildcats -- coached by John Calipari, whom Knight has verbally attacked in the past.

You could chalk that up as a matter of opinion, as Knight being vintage contrarian Knight, but not when you combine it with another recent segment of his -- when he was talking about the best players in the country. He never mentioned Kentucky's Anthony Davis, which is odd considering the rest of the country considers Davis and Kansas' Thomas Robinson not just the leading candidates for national POY ... but the only candidates for national POY. And as an added bonus, Davis is the presumptive No. 1 overall pick if he enters the 2012 NBA Draft.

But Knight doesn't want to mention Davis -- coached by John Calipari, whom Knight has verbally attacked in the past.

This sort of thing, coming from an analyst, is about as brazen and ridiculous as a coach throwing a chair across the court or grabbing a player by the neck and having it caught on video.

So why is Bob Knight getting away with it?

I'm just glad that I'm the jerk. I only insulted him and Booby Knight, while he insulted my wife and kids. And yet, I'm the jerk.

ACC is HORRIBLE outside of Duke and UNC. And, the rankings are what they are.....in fact....the computers DO NOT LIE.

Mountain West IS stronger than the ACC. ACC is 5th, SEC is currently 4th by .001.

Maybe I need to draw Mr. RangerDanger a picture with crayons. He would probably understand that better anyway.

Oh, for the record, the ACC isn't even the 5th best conference, despite your cherry picking. Mountain West is ahead of the ACC.

As of 2/27: Conference RPI Rankings:

1) Big Ten: .583
2) Big East: .572
3) SEC: .570
3) Big 12: .570

The SEC and Big 12 were tied.

As of 3/5:

1) Big 10: .580
2) Big East: .570
3) Big 12: .568
4) SEC: .567

But, I have once again proven you to be wrong.

And, what did you say earlier? This is too easy.

The Big East has 4 teams in the top 20,the Sec has 2.Kentucky is not as good as Syracuse go look at the RPI'S and the SOS.
It is easy winning when your sos is 36th best in basketball. The Big East has 10 teams with higher SOS'S than Kentucky

You actually look something up. Good for you.

Yes, the SEC is not as strong as the Big East. Never disputed that, despite the fact that the SEC routinely holds it own against the Big East. In fact, Kentucky over the last two years holds a 5-2 record over Big East schools (Loserville, twice, West Virginia, St. John's and Notre Dame). However, you make it sound like the SEC is a pile of flaming sheit, when reality is, the SEC is the thrid best overall conference.

Now, SOS REALLY doesn't say much, when comparing Kentucky. Kentucky will ALWAYS schedule ANYBODY, ANYWHERE. Look at their schedule this year.....Kansas, UNC, St. John's, Louisville, Indiana, Vandy twice, Florida twice. In fact, Kentucky has more wins against RPI Top 50 schools than any other school.

So, long story short.....I don't care about the rest of the SEC. It has no bearing on Kentucky. UK IS the #1 team in the country, and WILL be seeded the #1 overall team, because they simply are the best this year.

Louisville is a state of horse racing but I though same sex marriage was frowned upon.

Louisville is a STATE? When the hell did they break away from Kentucky? I know most of Louisville can't stand the rest of Kentucky, but last I checked, they were still within Kentucky, and still just a city.

If it makes you feel better, how about I just call you jackass? After all, you're the one insulting my family. I haven't insulted your family. Unless, of course, you don't have one, which makes perfect sense now.
