Alabama has two faces

Posted on: July 12, 2008 10:16 am

And both of them are ugly.

On the football field, player after player after player gets into trouble with the law. Most of them stay with the team. Most of them will play as much as they are needed to play this season.

In the football broadcasting booth, Kenny Stabler gets into trouble with the law. And he's gone. Talking a "leave of absence" for the entire year. Maybe the leave was his idea. Maybe it wasn't. The way Alabama handles things, it's hard to take anything that comes out of that football program at face value.

If I'm an Alabama fan, I'm sick to my stomach. But I'm not an Alabama fan. Maybe you are. So I'm guessing you're just mad at me now.

Alabama has two faces

Face the facts and stop living in a state of denial, Bama. I am from Alabama and I have been a fan since the Bear walked in the 60's, so I am not some idiot from New York writing. Why is Gene Stallings still not coaching the Tide? Because of the Alumni and the people in the AD office. They are idiots. Gene Stallings was poised to keep the Tide in the winning tradition year after year, just like the Bear, but they basically ran him off.

What has happened since? A merry go round of coaches, many of who were and still are jokes. The Mike Price incident was also mishandled. Mike Price is a great football coach but he was also shown the door. Yet football players can do all sorts of law breaking activities and it is ok. It is a two face system. Mike Price did not break the law.

Kenny Stabler is a great guy in the booth. He is family at Alabama, yet he was told to disappear. Save face, take a year off and then we will forget you.

It is time to return to the Glory Days of Crimson Tide. It will not happen with the current philosophy, with the current bozos paying over-rated coaches like Saban big $. Glad to see Crooms had a better year at Miss St than Saban at Bama! Crooms is family at Alabama and Saban is just a money gragging giggilo. He is already looking for his next gig.

Yet another SEC hatchet job by Duh-oyle.

Hang on to that day job

You don't  have a chance for ESPN. They're looking for good writers.

LMAO !  Gee, this isn't the typical Bama fan response your getting.  They're usually known for being so rational (NOT!!!!)...

Put yer heads in the sand and shoot the messenger.  Bama's right and the rest of the world is wrong,  Shouldn't we realize this by now?

Every student on campus knew what Jimmy Johns was doing, but St Nick is a Saint for kicking off the team immediately after he was arrested.  Do you really believe that Saban didn't know what was going on?  You people are unbelievable.

Yes, we're all jealous of that $4 million, 7-6 greatness of which you speak.  October 25th - Paybacks are a b*tch.  11 out of 15.

As I am also a die-hard Auburn fan, I wouldn't worry about this, because these are mostly Mike Shula's recruits, as much as I do not and never have liked Nick Saban, he will get this program back on it's feet, there is a lot of trash to take out and he will run most of the problems off sooner or later.

I don't think people are mad at you... maybe just disappointed.  I'm a die hard Auburn fan and alumni and as much as I like seeing Bama down, I don't think they need to be kicked.  Bama needs some direction and I think most would agree they have tried and are trying to make their situation better.  What other school has had this much turnover and turmoil since the turn of the century?  I can't think of one...  I think posting blogs like this are just mean and divisive and not a good way to keep people coming to your website.  There are other things going on in college football and there are other programs with players in trouble so why single them out?  As long as kids go to college.. there are going to be dui's, drugs, and bad decisions.  It's one of the lessons many kids have to learn the hard way.  Oh well.. good luck with your bait article..  I've wasted enough time on it already.

Yes and whats your point?  What makes bama any different from the other programs doing the same thing in college football?  I.E. thug U Miami, Fla St., USC, and I guess we can also throw in the Buckeyes with the Maurice Clarett incident...  Why don't you think about what you say before you say it...  Thats a thought.

Alabama has two faces

so how many faces does USC or Tenn. have? Last year when Tenn. had all those Volunteers arrested you know what the media and everyone did? Made them into All-American. The NCAA takes Reggie Bush and USC then sweeps it under the rug. Before the NCAA had any facts or information they already punished Alabama. Why is it taking so long for Reggie Bush? and why all the love for Tenn.? Who cares... Ya'll can hate Bama but we got the captain of the ship guiding us to the promise land. Hate all ya'll want Bama BACK.

Does anyone have anything they can post about Gregg Doyel? Any run in's with the law? Any drug related offenses? If you know of any skelletons in the closet I think it would be fun to post them here. You know, just for kicks and giggles. I'll start searching.
