Good Eatin Joints / Good Cities!

Posted on: April 5, 2008 12:25 pm

One thing I love about road trips are the good eating joints...not that I'm a fat ass or anything, I just enjoy eating food from different regions of the US...I'm always on the look out for that eating joint that has great food, but isn't nationally known or someplace that is well known that keep people coming back for more.  A few off the top of my head are:

"Olive Branch Catfish Co."  in Olive Branch Mississippi (just south of Memphis)...good fish good eating!

"Interstate BBQ in Memphis Tenn" BBQ in the world!

"Pete Place" in Krebbs Oklahoma...great Italian!  Immigrant family from way back does in right in OK!

Can some of y'all help me out please?...I need to be in the know on some of these places!

P.S.  I'm going to give a shout out to Memphis as a place to visit if your looking for a good time...Good food and Good entertainment down on Beal St...(oh yeah "Blue plate Cafe" for breakfast)

I used to like petes place but it has gone downhill in the last 5 years.

Catfish hole in Sallisaw is good.

My place bar-b-q in Muskogee has great sauce.

Chilongos in Tahlequah has good mexican food.

Of course... I'm north now and would kill for just a Whataburger

Love Whataburger...How about DQ?  There is a place called Krystals that I have seen in Ark. and kind of reminds me of a White Castle type place...anyway, good place to eat after a night on the town.

I could eat Mexican food everyday of the week....I once ate a this place just North of down town Ft. Worth, it had the greatest fajitas I have ever had.  This place had been there for around 100 years and they had trees and stuff growing from inside the restaurant...the Margaritas were impeccable....for the life of me I can't think of the name of this place....Does anyone know?

Good Eatin Joints / Good Cities!

I lived in San Antonio for about 10-years, and I've yet to find a city with better food and a better variety.  For tex-mex, Alamo Cafe is a local chain, but great food (tortillias are hand made).  Just up the road in New Braunfels has the Adobe Cafe.. best Tex-Mex around.  For BBQ, you can't go wrong with Rudy's (from SA to Austin)... great food and sause.  Chesters Hamburgers is also a good local chain.. great burgers and a beer selection that cannot be beat.

There might be some good salad bars there too... I wouldn't know!!!

Good Eatin Joints / Good Cities!

I did not try the Choc beer...I had a bad experience with micro-brews once....but I think I'm getting over that, I will definitely try in next time...Molly's landing is now on the Radar and will definitely be heading there in the next month or so....I haven't been to KC in a while, but from what I remember it was a great place...I may have to take a trip up there and watch the Royals or a Big XII event.  Arthur Bryant's is BBQ right?...I think I saw it on the food network once.

Have you tried Pete's Choc Beer?  Pretty good stuff made right there in Krebs.

As a Tulsan I have to recommend Molly's Landing in Catoosa.  Great ecclectic atmosphere and fantastic food.  They have a murder mystery night that is pretty fun too.

Kansas City (my last home town) has tons of great food.  The Bristol, First Watch, Plaza III, The Peanut (wings or nachos), The Majestic, Town Topic, and Arthur Bryant's are just a few.
