I first want to start off by saying that i am a Tar Heel fan, so call me biased if you will.

Tyler Hasborough is exactly what makes CBB better than the NBA, if you ask me. He literaly lays every play as if it was his last and the game was going to be decided at that very moment. He single handedly made 4 plays in the last few minutes against VT that w/o could have cost UNC the game. Then when the drawn up play doesnt pan out...he is in the right place at the right time and makes the shot!!

I personally hope that he comes back to UNC for his senior season, he is just to much fun to watch at the college level, but if he does go pro, there is no incidation that he wont play the same way at the next level. He will probably come off the bech his rookie year but what NBA coach wouldnt want that kind of spark to be coming of your bench.

He makes an already good Tar Heel team great. Because of his contirbutions and intensity on the court, that is why i am going to be riding the Heels all the way to the NCAA championship game in by bracket. (The probable #1 seed in the East and not having to leave NC unitl the Final 4 doesnt hurt either).

Go Heels and Good luck Tyler!

For the record, i would love to see that TENN v. UNC matchup. I think that would be an extremely exciting game. The would most definetly come down to the wire. Even though i am a UNC fan i love what Bruce Pearl has done with that TENN program.

He is a very tough player but I think the athletes on the Vols will disrupt him and I got them making the final four. The Heels struggled with the Clemson Tigers 3 times and Tennessee is a better team who can play just as physical. They make their free-throws!!

I think the big diffrence between Hansborough and Beasley is that right now Beasley could go the the pros and be a great low post and owerful player. Hasborough is a great low post poer player in college but i dont think that his style will translate to the NBA as well at first. He will have to tweek it a bit. That is why Beasley could leave today and be the #1 pick hands down. While Hansborough is a top 15-20 pick.

I'd take him on my team anyday. I keep hearing that he won't be a stellar pro, but his skills keep getting better and better, he CAN jump, he knows how to use his body, and he never stops fighting. I could see him contributing to a Jerry Sloan-like team and being a fan favorite. Prediction - he'll be an NBA All Star more than once in his pro career. Hey, look at Rodman, Ben Wallace, and other "role" players who contributed to championships.

That being said, Go Memphis Tigers!!!

Nice post yankeeclipper19...I agree with most of the stuff you said, but (and by no means am I a K-State fan), but this kid Beasley is a monster.  I keep hearing why tyler hansborough should be the poy, b/c he carried unc while Ty Lawson was injured, but in reality that team is good w/o lawson.  Michael Beasley on the other hand has carried his team all year long and has better stats than the confussed looking uncoordinated hansborough.  To me there's no comparison, Beasley is a much better player b/c he is a threat from inside as well as outside.  I can't remember tyler ever being a big threat from anywhere other than right under the basket.  I think that a big reason that hansborough is being considered for the poy spot, is also b/c K-State is not on TV ever.  If the nation were to see the two of them play, and the media didn't think that the country stopped west of new jersey, I believe that everyone would know that Beasley is a much better player than the "mouth always open, oafey, ridiculously lucky" tyler hansborough!!!

I realize that these are all opinions and I am glad to hear from some people who are not UNC fans and have something interesting to say on the subject.  I think that Hansborough gets a ton of press because he is the best player on the best team in the country but isn't that the way it is supposed to be?  Hansborough is great because of his intensity on the court and the way the his hard work in practice results in new dimensions to his game, like his new 15ft jump shot.  However I think he will deserve even more praise next year when he comes back and plays for his senior year.  I don't have any problem with people like Kevin Love and Beasley but man I miss the old days when we got to see great players evolve through their college careers.  One and done is an improvement but still not the answer.
Also, the ACC may be having a down year but lets put that in perspective... Our down year includes being ranked the #1 conference according to the RPI.  It's like the SEC in football... the ACC is light years ahead of the rest of the country in talent and prestige.  I could go on all day but if you don't know enough about college hoops to know this already either you are in denial or it's not worth wasting by time to explain it.
If you want to win your office pool pick the ACC and  some 12 seeds.

I first want to start off by saying that I am not a Tar Heel fan and you can feel free to call me biased as well.

I will agree with you that guys like Hansborough make the collegiate game a more attractive product compared to the Association. Let's face it, the NBA regular season is nothing more than an 82 game exhibition for "the contenders" who don't hit the switch until the playoffs start. When we watch the amateurs we see that heart and passion in every game because every game has meaning and that reminds us why we got hooked to begin with.

Don't give Hansborough the monopoly on heart and passion though. What about UCLA's Kevin Love? Indiana's D.J. White? MIchael Flowers From Wisconsin?

Hansborough is a nice player who plays on a nice team in a talentless conference who happens to get alot of run.

By the way Tar Heel fan...don't be too quick on the draw with your Heel's. This is a pretty even field again this yea and your Heels played in a woefully bad ACC. They should have been 29-2 with that team. Let's see what they can do against the rest of the field.
