We're going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a day for Patriot fans.  Tom Brady played probably the poorest game of his professioal career, yet thanks to the defense and Laurence Maroney we are headed to our 4th Super Bowl since 2000.  Today the Chargers put up a great effort but it wasn't enough to derail the Patriots pursuit of history.  After years of misery it feels great to be living in the Boston area and being able to watch Championship teams every year.  We will soon find out who our next opponent will be.  Be it the Packers or the Giants the Patriots will have a chance to establish themselves as the greatest dynasty the NFL has ever seen.

We're going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So much for that "greatest dynasty the NFL has ever seen".

They will now be known for "the biggest Super Bowl loss the NFL has ever seen".

Soon they may also be known as "the biggest cheaters the NFL has ever seen".

Boston sports teams are not the best ever.  Boston has had some great teams though and that probably helps when you live in a place that is ugly and has terrible weather.

We're going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One more to end the perfect season. I can't wait to see what Mercury Morris does after the game.

We're going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You gotta wonder how the hell do they sustain the motivation week in and week out to put in the gargantuan effort to go undefeated. One more game fellas and I hope it isn't even close. It's uncomfortable on the end of my seat every game since the Eagles.

We're going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's call a spade a spade. That was an UGLY game. I thought Maroney and Welker did very well; but Brady was sub-par. Let's look at the facts: LT was out for the entire game; Antonio Gates was NO factor, and Rivers was hobbling around with a big knee brace the entire time. If we had faced a healthy SD squad, we could have easily lost that one. Very easily, IMO.

But NE has shown it can fight through and win -- even in its most sub-par performances. This is what separates it from all other clubs in the NFL. The SB won't be a cake walk; but I honestly can't see the Pats losing it. That's my gut feeling.

And yes, it's great to be a Boston sports fan (I remain hopeful for the Bruins! ) I just wish the BC hoop team could get into the NCAA tournament to make it complete ... but I don't see that happening.

Great blog thread, Poolman!

We're going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For years Boston fans have always had something to cheer about. When the Patriots mediocre and the Red Sox had no pitching, The Celtics had Larry Bird leading them to playoff after playoff and the Bruins were known as "The Big Bad Bruins"

Now this decade the Red Sox have won their 2nd World Series, the Patriots are going to their 4th Super Bowl and the Celtics have the best record in the NBA and a shot at a 17th banner.

If this keeps up those Duck boats are going to get worn out.

It is a great time to be a Boston sports fan.

We're going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good victory for the Pats. Good teams do what they do: chug out results.

What annoys me though is people saying Brady had a bad day just out of the blue. Peyton Manning had bad days against the Chargers as well. Why? The defensive scheme... Brady may have been off here or there, and the randomness factor plays a role, but I think more credit needs to go to the Chargers D for pestering Brady.

Besides that, good win for the Pats. Your dynasty (unfortunately =] ) continues...

We're going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"How sweet it is!!!"   And what an intersting matchup, too...   A rematch of the final game of the season for the Pats & G-Men.  Who'd've thunk it that the Pats would face the Giants in the big dance.

Maroney has been great the past few games.  He didn't get much work in the regular season, but as a result, probably had the freshest legs of any back heading into the post season, and it appears to show.  Was that Bellichick's plan all along?  Hmmm...

But yes, if the Pats can win in a couple of weeks, then their season will be the new standard-  the greatest season ever played in the history of football.  Sorry, '72 Fins...

We're going to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this was far from Brady's worse day.  He did manage to throw 2 more tds than Rivers.  Maroney was a beast.  Hard to beleive I was happy after the first sb, I wasn't greedy.  Now I want 4. After a World Series.  Great days for New England sports fans.
