[The Top Prospects blog is a short scroll down, I just through this quick predictions list in for fun]

I am not a big NBA enthusiast, but I do enjoy watching from time to time - if I am doing something else, like writing these blogs, I like to have NBA games on the TV just to glance at. I do not really have a favorite team, although I root for the Magic - I have always been an (an because of the way Hedo - - "E-dough" is pernounced) Hedo Turkoglu fan - the Grizzlies, the Kings now with Donte Greene, and the Lakers among the current superpowers.

NBA Champion: Las Angeles Lakers

The Team They Beat: Orlando Magic

16 Playoff Teams and Their Seeds:
1. Orlando Magic
2. Boston Celtics
3. Cleveland Cavaliers
4. Philadelphia 76ers
5. Detroit Pistons
6. Washington Wizards
7. Miami Heat - your read that right. A whole year of Dwayne Wade, and Beasley
8. Milwaukee Bucks - Michael Redd now joined by Richard Jeffferson, and a compelling season by Luke Ridnour
1. LA Lakers
2. New Orleans Hornets
3. Phoenix Suns
4. Houston Rockets
5. Denver Nuggets
6. San Antonio Spurs
7. Portland Trailblazers
8. Dallas Mavericks

Ten Bold[ed] Predictions

Kobe Bryant repeats as MVP

The Houston Rockets once again lose their opening playoff series

How about both the Heat, and Bucks making the playoffs?

Speaking of the Heat, Michael Beasley wins ROY, topping Derrick Rose, and Greg Oden

Hakim Warrick leads Syracuse alum in Rebounds, Etan Thomas leads in blocks, Donte Greene in turnovers

The Knicks finish the season with the worst record in the NBA

Yao Ming is voted to start in the All-Star game despite mediocre numbers

J.J. Reddick ill double his ppg this season from last (8.2 ppg this season)

The true motivations of the Thunder/Sonics move from Seattle to Oklahoma City are revealed. It turns out they were just sick of playing second fiddle to Gonzaga in the state of Washington

Donte Greene averages the second most points on the Kings lineup after Kevin Martin

I like it!! Im glad to c someone putting the cavs @ number 3! I disagree with Kobe as MVp, I'd say Lebron or Chris Paul. For R.O.Y- I'd say Michael Beasley or O.J Mayo.

The Celtics have had their share of championships!! Id like to see a rematch from last year-Lakers v Celts- Lakers win it!!!

Good predictions-u think the way I do!

Oh man, my bad!  It is obvious (I hope) that I meant one of the worst backcourts.  Yes, Orlando's frontcourt is amazing and dominant, I just mixed up the terms.  Sorry for the confusion.

However, Jameer Nelson is the best player in the backcourt (not saying much IMO), and pardon me if I don't believe in Pietrus or Lee as much of impact players.

Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu, and Rashad Lewis form one of the best front-courts in the NBA.  Combined they will average nearly 60 ppg.  Howard is a beast on the boards, and blocking shots.  Turkoglu, and Rashad Lewis are both extremely versatile, with Turkoglu being a great facilitator, and Lewis being extremely balanced offensively.  They also have a solid back-court with Jameer Nelson, Pietrus, andCourtney Lee will be solid later in the year.

Props for the boldness of your predictions...having Orlando in the championship game despite the fact that they have possibly one of the worst front-courts in the NBA.  I'm not super knowledgeable about the NBA, but I would definitely put money on the Magic not winning the East, and not going to the championship game, at least with the current roster.

Also, I think the Suns take steps backward, thanks to neutralizing some of the best aspects of Steve Nash's game by adding the completely immobile and unathletic Shaq.

Lastly, my semi-bold prediction is that the Bulls will challenge the Knicks for the worst record in the NBA, and win out (bad choice of words maybe) in the end for that dubious title.

-Why no love for the Rockets?

I have to admit if a certain trade had not occurred the Rockets would be one of the teams I would be rooting for, but Ron Artest went to the Rockets, and Donte Greene left the Rockets.  So, I am still feeling a little bitter.  To be honest I love Tracy McGrady, he is a great player, and does not make excuses, "it's my fault some fans order Heineken, and get Budweiser instead."  I am not down on the Rockets, I picked them to finish fourth in a tough Western Conference.  I just laugh when team's say they just need one more piece to get themselves a title, and then go out, and get Ron Artest.  Artest is a great player, but he is not that good, and in his entire career name a team he went to that got better because of him.  As far as Mao is concerned, does it not seem like Yao wins the voting for the All-Star game even if he does not deserve it?  It is the same way I feel about the baseball All-Star game, the best players do not always get picked, and I think Yao exemplifies this.  He will get injured, and then make the All-Star team as a starter.  How?  Why?  Anyways, thanks for the feedback.

good read, but I have to ask why the nonlove for the Rockets? Do you really think they will not win in the first round again? And I can understand they Yao prediction, but that is if he misses time because he is hurt right? Because when he is not he is one of the the best Centers in the league, if not atleast the 2nd best behind Howard in my opinion.

PS-I love the disclaimer of honesty, "50 % of these predictions do not come true" I appluad your humility.
