Steelcity Tavern relocated!!

Hi all,

Welcome to the Steelcity Tavern!  My good friend Blitzburgh was kind enough to open the doors to the original on the Steelers message board but it has since been overrun with Trolls.  I've decided to beef up security and relocate.  Come on in, order a drink, and discuss whatever you fancy.  The doors are always open and the drinks are always free.

Welcome

BTW, Management reserves the right to kick out any patrons who don't show the proper respect.

Steelcity Tavern relocated!!

Hello all, good to be at the "new" Steelcity Tavern!  As far as the trash goes, they just follow good posters around trying to get a reaction I'd just leave them be.  We must have been doing something right for them to target us haha

Sorry for the multiple posts, but senior bowl today. Figures a pats anaylist says they are the best ever. I still say the should be 11 hall of famers on the 78 steelers

Mano, I heard that on ellis cannons radio show. Ellis is very respectable and I would trust him about this rmor. He got offered to coach southern alabama or something like that. I only really saw schmitt when he played my panthers, but I think he would make a great fullback, but I'm not sure if he would be the right fit for arians offense. I also agree slaton should have stayed, he had a so-so junior year and will be about a day two (new 3 day format) pick. I can't say I'm disappointed for pitt though

Steelcity Tavern relocated!!

nybites,

Hey - Owen Schmitt FB WVU - I heard he got dinged up this week in Mobile - My guy tells me he plays today - This kid is so Pittsburgh Steeler like!  A real lunch pail player that brings it every down - every play.  There is a story floating out there that when he attended junior college or div 3 football he was killing players in practice and his coach told him to stop practicing during live hitting drills - Go to love that!  Mike Allstot comparison is a good one - Schmitt will be a full back in the NFL..   a bruiser lead blocker.. Do the steelers need to draft a FB?  I kind of doubt that they will go in this direction.  The other FB that is much more versitile  - can play the slot, has great hands, RB - I bet a special teams monster too is the kid from LSU Hester - simply put -the kid is a football player - If he is on the board in the 3rd round - I think we would have to seriously consider taking him...

re- WVU - Pat White was the team this year - I think after the year Slaton had that he should have stayed for his senior season..  WIll be intersting to see who picks him up and how he develops..

enjoy,

bb

bites...I haven't really poured too much into the draft yet, but Schmitt should go in the later rounds, maybe fourth.  He's a traditional blocking FB, more like Kreider than Alstott from what I can tell.  He's a great blocker and when he does carry the ball, he's a load to bring down.  He has good hands and can catch the ball out of the backfield but he's not likely to do much with it once he's got it.  I'd be surprised if the Steelers looked for a FB in this year's draft, but if they do, he wouldn't be a bad choice.

I will definitely watch the pro bowl.  I know its just a game of hype, but it is still football and I do love football.  I like the way the new tavern looks.  I especially like the bouncer who threw out Blind Bennie and Bernie Rotten.  WHOOSH right out into Carson street.  I.C. Light draft plz.

bb...it should be a fun game today.  I like Nelson, he seems like a talented kid.  It'll be interesting to see how Cherilius does today, some sites have him falling out of the first round now.  Colt Brennan has a lot to prove today aswell.  He had a horrible bowl game, let's see how he does with the best, against the best.
As for the Pro Bowl, did you hear that Ben was paying for his entire O-line and their spouses to go to Hawaii with him?  I thought that was pretty classy considering they almost got him killed this year! lol.

Burgh, Mano,

What can you guys tell me about Owen Schmitt??? Does anyone see a Mike Allstot in him? I worked a ton of Saturdays in 2007 so I missed a lot of College FB, so looking at his stats I am guessing Pat White was most of the show.... I did see WV live in 2006, I lived 2 miles away at the time rom Rentschler Field where my Huskies play.

Also, I was actually at the preseason game 8/24/98 that Cowher raved about spreading our fan base, I know a lot of WV fans may not like Pitt but they are Steeler fans. I saw Tim Dwight as a rookie trying to make the Falcons and I saw Tim Fuatumalafala running over Atlanta players, it was a great game. Unfortunately my buddy Randy Fuller had migrated to the enemy by then, but memories still linger over the Harbaugh pass he knocked down to get us into Superbowl XXX. Freiking Neil O'Donnell, good riddance, glad he went to the Jets.
