Steelcity Tavern relocated!!

Posted on: January 25, 2008 9:39 pm

Hi all,

Welcome to the Steelcity Tavern!  My good friend Blitzburgh was kind enough to open the doors to the original on the Steelers message board but it has since been overrun with Trolls.  I've decided to beef up security and relocate.  Come on in, order a drink, and discuss whatever you fancy.  The doors are always open and the drinks are always free.

Welcome

Steelcity Tavern relocated!!

Hey All,

Great to see this place back up and running. Anyone see Burress' comments about how the Giants have better receivers than the Patriots?

Haha gotta love that. Although it did seem like he was taken way out of context. They never actually had a direct quote of him saying anything about them being better. Almost seemed like a reporter asked him if he thought the two were comparable, he said something along the lines of "well, we're both playing in the superbowl aren't we?" and the media just ran with it. Will be interesting to see if they show the actual text of the interview.....

I do miss Burress though. He is one guy I really think the Steelers made a mistake with. And speaking of tall receivers......

What are people's opinions on Hines Ward exploding like he did and throwing some flak at Big Ben for his comments about wanting a tall receiver. Can't say I ever saw that coming.

memphis, rumour has it that Tomlin and the Steelers scouts were very interested in Chris Williams from Vanderbilt.  Some sites have him listed to go in the second round but after his very strong performance during the Senior Bowl practices, he's looking like a late first rounder...and guess where we pick?  He's a big kid at 6'6" and 320 lbs with good quickness and excellent feet.  He is a good run blocker but he excels at pass blocking at LT.  The problem is he struggled when he was moved to RT in the practices and that is likely where he will play for the Steelers for at least this year.  Marvel Smith is in the final year of his contract and is 30 years old, so he could be groomed to replace Marvel at LT in 2009.  It'll be interesting.

Agreed, al davis is insane, it's time for the old couk to leave before he makes a trip through blackhole and all we'l get back are those glasses. Kiffin should be coach of the year for what he did with that team (sarcastic for the slow ones, bernierotten and boxer that means you). Kiffin never even had a shot there I thought, he could have stayed and maybe try for the redskins job. All I know is the raiders have had as many coaches in 10 years (7) as the steelers have had in 54 years when walt kiesling took his 2nd stint here. Talk about inconsistency. Thank god the chief had dan rooney to take over for him and thank god they know how to get coaches, we got lucky no one else got tomlin because I'm sure he'd have been taken by now.

bernierotten, boxer154, and crossedsabres are all idiots and they can't do anything about it suckers

Al Davis is nuts.  I don't know what he expected this season.  Give Kifen a chance.  I am not a Raider fan by any means, but how many coaches has Al Davis gone through in the past 10 years?  And what did he expect, they were going to go to the super bowl this year?   I know that every assistant coach, offensive coordinator  etc., wants to one day be the head coach of a football team, but I thought that Kifen was getting in over his head when he signed with the Raiders.  Davis reminds me of Howard Hughes, rich eccentric, and nuts.

Dr,

Can I get a Dr in the house? and how about an ice cold Rolling Rock?  Thanks - yeah I had heard about Kiffins - that Al Davis wanted him to leave - then heard that wasn't true..  So who knows..

re the Senior Bowl - The RB from Tulane had a nice game - Love Sedrick Ellis but no way we have a shot at him - I do like the DL from Hampton - Langford..nice game - a sleeper to watch for sure..  lastly the coach from the North is an idiot.. He listen to John Sullivan Center from ND instead of kicking a FG to make it a 9 point game - they went and were stopped..  unbelievable..

Have a great steeler nation!
