Dear Diary.....

Posted on: December 9, 2008 2:06 am

I was thinking that if I start to actually write thoughts here more often, isn't it really just a semi-public diary? I've come to accept that I'm never going to be one of the members here at CBS that everyone waits to hear their opinions...I am a fringe poster. When all of the "cool" kids start contests about members, I am not at the top of anyones list. That is okay though, because it would also seem that I than have a freedom to say just about anything, because it will soon be forgotten.

Think about it....I realize now that I don't really need to keep changing my avatar every week. I'm not really part of that deal.

Favorite posters, "elected officials", etc....not my problem. Heck, I'm in fantasy leagues and people aren't even aware of who I am.

So, onto something (s) on my mind:

To many of the posters at this site, if it isn't NA$CARE, it doesn't exist. What really saddens me is the possibility that one of the truly exciting racing series in the U.S. might actually become a part of their reality...not existing. For over a decade the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series has provided some of the best short-track racing in this country. Well, Hooters has declined to continue sponsoring the series, and this really looks like the end. We lost the ASA a few years ago, and now this, be prepared for stock cars to only run 1.5 mile cookies soon.

Dental work.....I recently began a pretty elaborate dental process. I had 10 teeth pulled, 10 posts placed, 7 root canals, the remainder of my teeth filed and shaped for crowns, and temporary crowns placed ...all in one day! Yes, there was a need for some painkillers for awhile. After a couple of months, and the healing as sufficiently started..permanent crowns and implants are the next step. Will it look good? For upwards of $30,000 and the pain, it better.

That "The Christmas Shoes" movie with Rob Lowe and Kimberly Williams Paisley is just about the saddest movie ever made. Speaking of Christmas movies, has anyone ever seen the  train conductor from "The Polar Express" and MN Vikings coach Brad Childress together? I think they are the same person. (The Polar express is real...I believe)

Why does Hersheys introduce about 2 new flavors (OOOPS, I mean "Special Limited Editions") of Kisses every week ? These are most of the currently available flavors:

Dear Diary.....

Speaking for myself, I value what you bring to the table around here. As I've said before, your posts are always informative, thought-provoking and respectful of your fellow posters. And trust me, more than a few of us share your cynical view of NASCAR. I think you, me and bluejay were the originals to start using the "$" in place of the "S", LOL. And I love your "NA$CARE" moniker. I've resigned myself to the fact that it has become a spec series, and I gave up my "rabid fan" card several years back. Fact is, if I have to choose between a good dirt race at my local track and watching a Cup race, the local track's going to get the nod every time.

I am interested in many forms of motorsports; on land, water and in the air. Everything from AMA motocross and supercross to the Red Bull air racing series. My big problem is that alot of the telecast times for the various series are ridiculous, and thus I can't keep up with them regularly. The Hooter's Cup is a perfect example. I used to watch it every week (had a friend that actually ran in the series). But last I checked, they were showing the races while I was at work. There just aren't enough hours in the day to keep up with everything that I'd like to keep up with.

As for some of us regulars on this board and our shennanigans around here... Yeah, we go off on some silly tangents and get carried away once in awhile. But hey, it's all in fun. This is a pretty tight-knit bunch and we try to have a good time. I see no reason for you not to consider yourself part of the crew, jak.

And yeah... What's the deal with the Hershey's Kisses? Plain ol' milk chocolate was always good enough for me. Sign of the times, I guess.

Anyway, hope the dental situation continues to improve and am sending continued prayers for healing in your other health issue.

Merry Christmas
