A good sweep by the Yankees but . . .

I am glad the Yankees have been able to gain more ground on the Rays as well as the Red Sox but they really need to improve on the hitting if they are going to be a serious threat. They left a ridiculous amount of runners on base during the A's series. Maybe getting Damon in the lineup will provide a spark but something needs to change.

As for other news, I was glad to read that Bruney has been pitching well and without pain down in the minors. It looks like Bruney, Kennedy and maybe even Hughes could be back sometime in August. I hope the Yankees keep David Robertson around and dump Hawkins when the time comes for one of them to be recalled. I like Robertson and while he isn't the second coming of Joba, he does display good poise and there is no doubt that this guy is going to stay in the bullpen since the Yankees have been playing him there since his arrival.

I was so glad that Molina was behind the plate in the 9th instead of Posada. That was a heck of a throw to end the game.

Too bad they dont have him in there and score all those runs when Joba Chamberlin is pitching. I would like to see him win some games after they put him in the rotation.

Did you notice that Damon comes back and the Yankees scored 12 runs then came right back and scored 8 more? The Yankees need to keep him in the lineup no regardless of whether he is the DH or in the field.

Bullpen ERA under I just posted our ERA in June was at 3.83 now in July is 3.23 and lowering.  Offense is coming around after the break with hitting with runners in scoring position I think this team is primed for a playoff run.  Its all on the pitching to keep it up.

Four wins in a row and 4 1/2 games back now. If they keep playing like this they might finally find their way between the rays and sox in the race. A long way to go though. It would really help if Wang comes back in a month or so as well. That might be a long shot though....

We did play the best pitching team in the majors what did you expect? We need to get rid of Hawkins I would love to see who gets sent down when Bruney returns.

I think the pitiching is starting to come together.  The middle relievers have picked it up.  But I agree with youn on the hitting and missed opportunities.  Hopefully plugging Damon back in th line up will turn things around, but as of right now, the offense is limping and we can only limp our way so far.

Yes it  was a great sweep and I would like to thank the Yanks for allowing the Halo's to stretch their lead to 9 games.

I think the next six games for the yankees will determine how they play the rest of the season. If they go 2-4 during that stretch, I think they will not make any major moves towards the trade deadline. If they go 5-1 or 6-0 then I think they will try to make a couple of major moves to help push themselves into a world series caliber type team
