Another solid performance by Yankees

Five in a row since the All-Star break and now only three and half games back from first, the Yankees have been playing well. The pitching has been very good lately with the bullpen doing ridiculously well. It is going to be a tough decision if/when Bruney becomes ready to come back to the big club. The current bullpen bunch have been solid in covering the seventh, eighth and ninth.

Ponson and Rasner has kept the team in the game for 5-6 innings which is all the Yankees could ask for at this point. With some players returning to health (Kennedy, Hughes, Bruney, maybe Wang), I hope the Yankees don't trade a Kennedy or Hughes for a reliever like Fuentes or a starter like Burnett. Stick to the transition plan and see where this group can end the season.

Hi

Diana,

How great is it for a hot girl to also be into sports!  I love the pic.

I'm an Englishman but went to UT (Teaxs) and now live in NYC (yes, an Englishman in New York).

If you want to chat sometime let me know.

Cheers

Stuart

Another solid performance by Yankees

CC  has been the anchor of my pitching staff for the past 2 years.  Not sure what Clevelands intentions were shipping him out.  But now the fun starts.  Sox Yankees.  Unlike most Sox fans I like to see a good Yankees team.  Not only does it make for better drama but it raises the bar for the Sox.  The more the Yankees get, the more pressure it puts on management to bring more talent to Boston.  Just a fact, a sox-Yankees A.L.C.S. is more exciting than a W.S.  Sorry N.L. fans.  Plus for ratings, it is good for baseball.

Looks like your Yankees are as hot as my Brewers right now.  I think you've won 6 straight since the break (not sure if those are home or road wins) and my Brewers have won 7 straight since the break, all on the road and 8 in a row in total.  Who knows, maybe it'll be a Yankees - Brewers WS!  Good luck to you and go CC!

Sabathia was pitching well heading into the trade but he has been lights out with the Brewers. I have him as a two start pitcher next week.

Yeah, you got another great performance from CC again yesterday.  CG shutout, 3 hits, 2 BB, 7K.  You have to be elated with that performance.  I'm a Brewers fan and livid that I wasn't lucky enough to get CC on my fantasy team.  Good luck the rest of the way, I hope he wins every game.

does anybody know why there is no talk about the Yankees getting Kenji Johijma form the mariners?  He was decent the last 2 years and if they are looking for potential external replacements for Posada for beyond this year.  It would seem to make sense to try and get him with Washburn...just a thought.

With Red Sox slow to pull the trigger on any deals, the Yankees are in a good spot.  The quiet signing of Richie Sexson is a bigger plus than given credit for.  He is still a power hitter, and good against lefties, a hole the Yankees needed.  He will also almost surely hit better for the Yankees batting in the 5 hole than he did with his previous weak offense.  This now gives the Yankees added options with Giambi, particulary in late innings in the PH role.  If the Sox injured players don't return to full form, and they don't make a major deal I don't see how the Yankees can't pass them.  As for Tampa, it's been fun to watch but I just don't like there odds come September. 12 games against the Yankees and Red Sox with another 4 against Minnesota.  Then finishing the last 7 on the road.  Sounds a bit much.

I guess when you are at or near the bottom, there is only one way to go (hopefully).  And if that is what consoles Yankee fans, then I am happy for you all.

Go Red Sox!
