To SpecKeta..

If Kevin Martin scores more than 26 points per game for the season, then SpecKeta has to wear an avatar of my choice for two weeks, and vice-versa if I lose(no gross pictures).

If you wanna tell me how I'm gonna lose, go ahead.. I'll try to prove my point.

That was meant to be 26ppg as a stretch not 24.

I don't like your chances on this one. He averaged a little under 24 ppg last season however I think 24 a game is a stretch but I guess he could pull it off because his numbers are steadily rising each year.

Not to go MS on everyone, but the first half of the 2007-2008 season, my man Martin was fifth overall in points per game while scoring inside of the system. Then he saw Reggie Theus unexpectedly take him out at times when he should have been in, and he got (I think) about 34 minutes a game. Now, he still was able to have his scoring average high at(23.7 per game) and he was able to be second only to Kobe in guards' points scored per minute, but he never was the first option on offense. That was where Theus placed Artest. This season, he likely won't get the most time to have the ball in his hands (John Salmons' offensive production is a bit like Artest's) but he'll still be able to get to the charity stripe over nine times per game, average 40% behind the three point line (a feat only done by Michael Jordan and Martin), and he'll still be one of the best lane finishers in the current NBA.

Now 26 points per game may be a bit high for most people, but hearing Kevin Martin working with David Thorpe and many other people to improve his ball handling, strength, defense and overall game constantly gives me the courage to say that Kevin Martin will finish averaging 26 points per game by the end of the 2008-09 season.

Yeah I think this is a loss here... 26 points? That is no easy feat here... the best players can average just above that... and that is a lot for them.  Martin will get his points but if he averages even around 23 points they aren't to be taken serious... I do think that Artest being gone will help out though... or it could hurt... it depends on if he is on the upper tier of players or if he isn't, we'll see.   while Artest was a bit crazy he did take the flack off Martin (averaging 20.5 points last year... and 18.8 the year before...  I think that it can be a smart/underrated bet... but it can really back fire if he doesn't take the double teams well.

Ehh.......I think you'll lose mate.

How many players averaged over 26ppg last season?
How many of those were guards?
and How many of those were in the West?
and How many of those were non-playoff teams?

Martin may be the no 1 option on the Kings, and I think he can average about 23ppg....

He could do it, but I think it will be too tough of an ask....
