Thank You Jim Hendry: Thoughts On Harden Trade!!

I'm not going to lie I was a little down after the Brewers got CC Sabathia however Jim Hendry has made me happy again!!!!!!! And I just want to extend my thanks to the Cubs great GM!!!!!!! Another great move by him and may even be his best move yet!!!!

So we land Rich Harden the best guy available on the market outside of CC this year. We got a guy however who could be a Cub for at least a few years unlike CC for the Brewers. Harden is a stud simply put when healthy and should fit in nicely in our rotation. I'm just so happy to add this guy to our rotation and we now have an absolutely wicked rotation.

Big Z an ace pitcher for sure we all know what Carlos can do.

Harden when healthy he can be any teams no. 1 pitcher and he will be our number 2 or even 3 when you consider what Dempster is doing.

Dempster he has been amazing and I totally was wrong to be against Lou and the pitching staff on moving him to the rotation!!!! We all saw tonight just how great Dempster has been this season ignore the no road wins because he should have a few.

Lily he was arguably our ace last season he came through so big last year and had a great first year in a Cubs uni. After starting 0-4 this year he is now 9-1 since and is pitching like he did last season. We have a guy who is a legit number 2 or number 3 on any staff and he is probably our 4th best.

Now the question is what do you do with the fifth spot my guess is they go with Marquis which I would prefer not, but I don't think they have much choice my guess is Marquis would throw a fit if he moved to the bullpen so maybe we look to trade him possibly. I don't know part of me would rather not because if there is an injury we could always use a vet to replace them. Even though Marshall has been great looks like he is headed to the Pen or the minors.

O and we also got Chad Gaudin in the deal looks like this guy could be a big help to us in the Pen!!!!! I just love this trade now who did we give up.

Matt Murton I love Matty, but I just don't think he was ever going to make it with the Cubs I wish him all the luck at the A's and hope he finds a starting home. Sean Gallagher started to grow on me, but it appeared he was losing his starting spot anyways to Marshall hope he gets to start in Oakland. Eric Patterson I don't know I have never really loved the guy he did have a great series at home against the Sox's that is what I will remember him for hope he turns out better then his bro. We gave up one of our top picks last year I believe in Donaldson who is a catcher since Geo Soto has come into his own in the catcher spot he is going to be there a long time I believe there really is no place for Donaldson. So all things considered a great move!!!!!

Let's Go Cubs thanks Jim Hendry for the boost and we should now start rolling again after a little bit of struggles I can't imagine too many losing streaks!!!! And many winning streaks sit back relax and enjoy Cubs fans!!!

Thank You Jim Hendry: Thoughts On Harden Trade!!

You summed it all up pretty nicely, there! Those players we gave up will be missed, but there's really just no place for them. Murton, Gallagher, and probably even Patterson will receive starting, everyday play time in Oakland in short order. I wish them the best. Go CUBS!Thank you DeathCab for the kind comments and everyone else who has commented!!!!!!!

World Series here we come eh!!!!!

May have to shift allegiance from D'Backs to Cubs....much talk about them being Canada's team with to boys from our area..This should definitely improve the odds of Cubbies making a deep run..

Cheers

After this trade, I'm feeling even better about this team! I didn't even think it was possible! I see no real holes in this team now, we are strong and deep. As long as our key players can stay healthy for the rest of the season (especially come September into the postseason), we should be able to make a serious run for the World Series!

You mentioned Donaldson, but he isn't a loss either.   Beyond Soto, we also have Wellington Castillo at double A and he just happens to be the Cubs lone representative in the Futures game.   I like MM but he's never really developed and Patterson doesn't have much more role than back up or injury replacement for the forseeable future with the Cubs.   Gallagher has a nice arm and is the main guy that Billy B wanted.... but to give up Gallagher to get Harden and Gaudin seems like a no risk trade (I consider the other 3 players throw-ins w/ no top end value).
