For those of you who predicted Truex Jr. to stay at DEI, I added your 10 bonus points into this weeks standings. Also keep in mind, I will offer one more shot at bonus points this year and you will give them to me the first week of the chase, here is how it will work.

before the first chase race you will predict the following end of the year placements. The Champion, the 13th place finisher, and the car that will finish 35th in owners points. Bonus points will be as follows:

100 Points for the correct Champion

50 Points for the correct 13th place driver

50 points for the correct 35th place car in the owners points.

You have a few more races till these picks have to be in, but I just want to give you guys a heads up for when it happens.

My picks for michigan

Winner - Cousin Carl Edwards

Chaser - Brian Vickers

Loser - Coleman

I am going to have to go with a negative on your suggestion RouchFenwayGuy, I thought about having a chase earlier but I didn't like the idea, here is why. I think if I did a resetting of the points, i would have to of reset the points for all involved, thus meaning someone like great88 would have the possibility of finishing dead last after having a pretty good year (excluding the last 3 races). I feel that it is unfair for someone to have a great year and then finish last because I reset the points. Another thought I has was that I could reset the points for the top 6 or so, but that would be excluding people and they may then stop playing all together.

Ultimately the main reason I will not reset points is that there are just way too many points that can be lost or earned in one week. I once worked it out that one could score a negative 142.5 points in one week (this is in theory, unlikely, but it is possible) while they have the opportunity to earn 266 points (this does not include bonus points like the extra 10 i will earn for predicting Newman to joing Haas earlier in the year). That means a person could gain up to 408.5 points per race (once again in theory). So even as of now, if u are way out of it, you theoretically have a shot of getting up towards the top.

Now, i guess one thing i could do for the last 10 races is double the points value, that could make things interesting. So if I were to get a majority in favor of  doubling the points for the last 10 races, I would be willing to do so.

.... but the good news is that race is tightening up for that top spot, as great 88 has had 3 bad weeks in a row (only scored a total of 103.5 points in 3 weeks), and Purduefan had a bad week this week. Less than 300 points separate the top 6! A couple weeks ago that was around 500 points or so.Hey, I don't know how long this has been going on, so I don't know if I'm messing with tradition here, but is there any chance you can reset the values after the chase, like they do in NASCAR, that way, I might actually stand a chance

OK, here are my picks. Anyone picking after me should avoid choosing these drivers.

Winner: I thought about going with Kenseth. In the last 5 3M Performance 400's he has 5 top 10's 3 top 5's, and a win, but I just don't think he is going to get it done this week. I will go with a driver who has almost identical stats, just doesn't have the win. My winner this week. Tony Stewart. My apologies to all Stewart fans who will have to watch their driver finish in the 30's due to me choosing him.

Chaser: The top 5 average finishers for this race are all in the chase, so I have to stretch it a bit and go with Brian Vickers. He is having a very good season, and will continue it this week.

Loser: Looking at the averages, you might be inclined to pick Kyle Busch this week. He has no top 10's in 3 starts of this race, 1 DNF, and an average finish of 31.7. But the year he is having, you might as well toss all of his previous results in the trash can. Can't pick him. This week I am going with the option of two drivers, since one of them will most likely be going home. First choice if he makes it is Tony Raines. If he doesn't qualify my backup choice is Johhny Sauter.

Take heed all who pick after me. Tony or Brian are almost guaranteed a bad finish, and Raines or Sauter will probably finish with a top 20. You have been warned, pick these drivers at your own peril.

Winner: Carl Edwards, with 8 runs here and a worst of 22nd, and a 7.3 avg. finish, and he is better this season, pretty safe bet here.

Chaser: Matt Kenseth... wait, he's in the chase, how did that happen he's supposed to be horrible at road courses... O.K., then I pick

Martin Truex Jr., 6th in avg. finishes here, and got a 2nd, Truex knows his way around this track.

Loser- J.J. Yeley- after 5 races, his best finish is 25th, and that includes his years at JG... if he doesn't make the race then Juan Pablo Montoya.

Picks for Michigan

Winner: Matt Kenseth - Matt breaks out with a win

Chasing the Chase - Dumb pick of the year, - Michael Waltrip - this is one of Mikeys best tracks. If he can just stay out of the wrecks.

Loser: - Brad Coleman, - first start if he doesn't make it then I will go with AJ Almendinger.

Section... good news... you pulled 24 points more ahead of RFG..... Lots of bad scores this week, but hey, when people don't make their picks, and their old loser is not in the race they get the worst place car in the race, guess who was the 43rd car in points? Should be easy to find out due to the rain out, anyone.. anyone...????? Oh yeah thats right... it was Ambrose, who earned alot of points.  I will post the scores tomorrow.... but the good news is that race is tightening up for that top spot, as great 88 has had 3 bad weeks in a row (only scored a total of 103.5 points in 3 weeks), and Purduefan had a bad week this week. Less than 300 points separate the top 6! A couple weeks ago that was around 500 points or so.
